District Officer Visits Auxiliary; Observance Held

Rogue River Mrs. Thomas
Lafferty, president of District
No. 7, was an official visitor at
a meeting of Rogue River VFW
Auxiliary November 4. Other
visitors were Mrs. Ivan Lusk,
president, and Mrs. Richard
Schulz, of the Medford' Auxil
iary. Mrs. Leo Orvis, Americanism
chairman, reported on visits to
schools in Wimer, Murphy and
the Applegate where she left
leaflets on the flag and the U. S.
constitution to be used as class
material. Additional leaflets
were sent to Canyonville to be
used by Mrs. Barbara Charles,
Mrs. Orvis' daughter, who
teaches there.
The auxiliary sent a contribu
tion to the national fund for
the establishment of an Ameri
can Museum of Immigration at
the foot of the statue of liberty..
Mrs. John Leyen, Mrs. Leo
Orvis, Mrs. E. B. Burkett and
Mrs. Homer Classick and daugh
ter Kathleen, recently visited
the Veterans' domiciliary, Camp
White.
Hostesses for the meeting, Mrs.
Orvis and Mrs. Howard Baker,
served refreshments.
A social night is planned No
vember 18 with a potluck din-
ner set for 6:30.
Veterans' day was observed
by post and auxiliary members
in a brief ceremony preceding
a game on the school football
field. Members of the teams arid
students also participated. Com
mander Leyen and Superinten
dent John Harr arranged the
program.
Open House was held for all
veterans and their families of
Rogue River, and refreshments
were served.
A pie sale starting at 10 a.m.
will be held November 19 in
the Feed store on Main street.
Mrs. Mary Williamson will take
orders for special pies.

ice cream yields about 200 calo
ries and all the nutrients of
milk.

Has First Session
Members of Epsilon chapter of
Delta Kappa Gamma will meet
Saturday, November 19 at 4:30
p.m., at the Medford hotel for a
business meeting and initiation,
ceremonies.
Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
Mrs. Maxine Smith will be the
social chairman.

Banquet Ends Year for Women Golfers
At Rogue Valley Club; Election Held
Women's Golf association of
Rogue Valley Country club con
cluded the season Tuesday eve
ning with a gala banquet held
in the main dining room of the
club house.
After the social hour and din
ner a short business meeting was
held. The candidates for offices
presented by the nominating
committee were unanimously
elected and Mrs. Warren Lesseg
the retiring president, presented
her gavel to Mrs. Ray Frisbie.
Other officers elected were Mrs.
Dick Knight, vice-president; sec
retary, Mrs. Frank Tamney;
treasurer, Mrs. Robert Lock
wood; tournament chairman,
Mrs.. Loren Haugen, co-chair
man, Mrs. H. D. McClure.
Prizes were presented for
the fall handicap tournament
and club championship tourna'
ment and the last month's play.
Trophies will be presented to
women golfers at the third an
nual presentation night buffet
dinner to be held at the club
Friday evening. November 25.
League Director
Guest in Medford;
Meeting Planned
Mrs. Charles E. Ford, Eugene,
an elected director of the Ore
gon League of Women Voters,
spent Tuesday in the area con
ferring with local league offic
ials. She was a guest of Mrs.
Fred Carr, 16 Florence avenue.
The state chairman of continu
fig responsibilities, Mrs. Ford
discussed the league s coming
program with board members
Tuesday night at a meeting at
the home of Mrs. John Day.
Mrs. Carr will also be hostess
Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. to the
morning study group of the
league. Mrs. Irving Thomas will
lead the discussion on "Security
Hearings."

will receive their trophies for
the year at this event.
The retiring board presented
a clock to the group for the
ladies' locker room aid a gift
was presented to Mrs. Lesseg,
the past president.
Entertainment for the eve
ning was provided by association
members. Mrs. Sam Colton and
Mrs. L. C. Burt presented a
pantomime sketch, Mrs. Fred
Conrad sang and a group song
was presented by Mrs. W. S.
Davies, Mrs. Ed Milne, Mrs. Ray
Sorenson, Mrs. Reese Alexander
and Mrs. Ted Groomes.
The decorations were the
work of Mrs. Royal Bebb and
her committee. "
Sojourners Give
Dinner, Dance
In Ashland Club
Over 900 members and their
guests attended a dinner and
dance given by the Medford So
journers club November 10 at
the Ashland Elks club. A cock
tail hour preceded the dinner
and dancing followed with music
furnished by John Lusk and his
orchestra.
Veterans' day was the theme
used for decorations and flags
were used as centerpieces. Bou
quets of white pom pon chry
santhemums and candles dec
orated the dinner tables.
Hostesses were .Mrs. George
Lovenborg, Mrs. Lawrence Mc
Connell, Mrs. Meredith Parsons,
Mrs. Earl Crisman, Mrs. Thomas
William, Mrs. William Riley and
the club president, Mrs. John
Mansfield. .

1 p.m., in the Medford hotel.
