mother's asked me if I would
go on a date with her nephew
who was visiting her. I had
never met him but had heard
from some of my classmates
at school that he was very
good-looking, had plenty of
money to spend on dates, and
was a bit conceited. I was only
too willing to go out with him
and it was arranged that he
would take me out for dinner
and a movie. I got all ready
and at six o'clock, when he
was supposed to pick me up,
he did not appear. By seven
o'clock, he still had not come.
"I ate a sandwich and went
to my friend's house so he
would not find me at home if
he did show up. I had just left
when he arrived, all embar
rassed because he had had a
flat tire and couldn't get to a
phone to call me. My mother
called me at my girl friend's
house and told me he had ar
rived and wanted to know if
she should send him over to
get me. I said 'No and he
went home. Naturally I was
mad and thought there was no
point in having a date under
such conditions. Now my
mother is mad at me because
she said her friend was upset
and thought I acted like a
'spoiled brat.' I am sorry now
I didn't want him to come for
me. Should I do something
about it or just forget him?"

The achievement meeting of
the Antelope 4-H clubs was held
Nov. 5 at the Eagle Point Grange
hall. After a'potluck dinner the
business meeting was Opened
by President Ken Bitterling.
Two songs were sung by Bon
nie Goering and Charlotte Bush
with Bonnie accompanying on
the accordion.
Officers elected are President
Bob Hayes, vice-president David
Woolfdlk; secretary Judy Brad
shaw; treasurer Darrel Stanley;
and reporter Jo Anna Malloroy.
The new officers took over
and President Bob Hayes turned
the meeting over to Glenn M.
Klein who then introduced Jen
nings Pierce, who on behalf of
the Crater Lakes Motors, pre
sented Doreen Bohnert with two
statues for being the outstand
ing 4-H'er of the State of Ore
gon. Glenn Klein then introduced
Elwood Hedberg of the First
National bank who presented

members winning county med
als were Ken Bitterling for soil
conservation, Bob Hayes for
boy's agriculture program, David

ship. Jo Anna Malloroy was pre
sented a silver buckle and a blue
ribbon for being on the county
home economics team that went
to Pacific International in Port
land. The next meeting will be held
Dec. 9 at the Antelope school
house. Everyone is to bring a
small gift for exchange. The
meeting was adjourned.

Accidental Gunshot Kills Lebanon Youlh
Lebanon (U.R) A 14-year-
old Lebanon boy was accident
ally shot to death here yester
day by a teen-aged companion
after the boys had returned
from a hunting trip.
The victim "was Ronald Jen-
son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed
Jenson of Lebanon. He and Ron
ald Matz and Kenneth Coleman,
both of Lebanon, had returned
to Coleman's home about 5 p.m.
when the accident occurred.
