James Straud of Lansing, Mich.,
general sales manager for the
firm in the western United
States, and Carl Deist, San Fran
cisco, regional manager of the
firm's Pacific division. They
were to meet with Portland
dealers this noon.
First Air Trip
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald G. Lipke,
Pittsburg, Pa., were en route to
Portland to visit his sister-in-law,
Mrs. William Moran. He
was general sales manager of a
chemical engineering firm.
Mr. and Mrs. James F. Dor
sey, Whitman, Mass., were en
route to spend the winter in
Portland with their son, Robert,
and his wife. The son moved
here only recently from Cor
vallis. Mr. and Mrs. Herman had
never flown before taking a va
cation trip to the east from
which they were returning.
They lived in the Salmon creek
district of Clark county. Her?
man was born in Molalla, Ore.,
in 1886.

here his son was scheduled to ar
rive on the flight but identifica

Merchant spokesmen said their
volume of business could drop
even more as a result of three
photographs which appeared in
an Ontario paper, showing a
dead cat land a dead dog on top
of uncovered garbage at the
Nyssa city dump.
Nyssa City Manager 'Aubrey
Middaugh, who said there was
"no argument" that the dump
was a "problem," said the area
would be sprayed Thursday, and
that a program to cover it with
dirt would be started.
Middaugh pointed out that
two ' separate sanitation studies
of the Nyssa area were being
conducted, one an independent
study by the Idaho Health De
partment, and the other by the
Oregon Health Department.
