Four New Sfafi&ns
Added lo Oregon's
Teletype Network
Four new stations were added
to the Oregon law enforcement
agencies private line teletype
writer network today.
Stations added to the network
are located at the office of the
Coos bay sheriff, CoquilleJ North
Bend police deoartment North
Bend: Orecon State Polfce dis-
trict office, Milwauki Snd the
Oregon State Rolice patrol office
at Salem. e $
Has 27 Stations S
The network, which began
ODeration Mav 24. 1954, now
has 27 stations serving 44 law
enforcement agencies in the
western part of the state on a 24
hour, seven day week basis.
Three of the teletypewriter
stations are in Modford. They
are located with the Jackson
County sheriff's office, Oregon
State police, and the Medford
city police department.
The network was basically or
ganized to aid in the recovery
of stolen motor vehicles, but all
types of police communications
dealing with any situation or
emergency are carried on the
system. Civil emergencies and
civil defense messages c;Jh also
be transmitted on the circuit.
Tied to California Net
The network is tied into the
California Justice Department's
teletype network which has
more than 250 stations, as well
as Reno and Las Vegas, Nev.,
and Yuma, Ariz. z

Foresters Planning
Tour of White City
Members of Siskiyou chapter
of the Society of American For
esters will tour the Whi$s City
industrial area Friday Nov. 4,
at its first meeting of the 1955
56 season," Ted W. Mul, chapter
chairman, has announced.
The tour will start at 3 p.m.
and will be conducted by Roy
Henry of Fir Ply, Inc. The tour
will start at Fir Ply's oflice at
White City. s
A dinner meeting for chapter
members will be held ai 7:3
p.m. Friday, (Nov. 4, at the Med
ford hotel. The National Society
of American Foresters meeting,
at Portland will be discussed.
Also on the agpda is disefssions
concerning continuance of the
publication "Western Forester."

Education Week
Program Slated
A program commemorating
American Education Week will
be held at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 3, at
the Masonic temple, 218 West
Main st.
Dr. , John D. McAuley, head
of the department of education
at Southern Oregon college, will
speak regarding the values and
history of education.
Nathan Douthit, Crater high
school student, will also speak
at the meeting.
The program is open to the
public and all those interested
in education are invited to at
tend. Fred A. Purdin, district dep
uty grand master of the Masonic
lodge, will be master of cere
monies. Invocation and benedic
tion will begi'ven bv the Rev.

Nursery Tree Shortage
Reported Coast-Wide ..
There is an apparent cost
wide shortage of nursery trees.
C. B. Cordy, county horticulture
agent, announced Monday.
Any local grower who antici
pates planting young trees
shouia order them at this time
Cordy advised.
The shortage is due to an in
crease in planting up and down
coast which was not antici
pated by nurserymen, Cordy
