Mr. and Mrs.
Moad-Nezvbry Ceremony Held
At Assembly of God Church
Miss Beverly Ann Newtry became the bride of Jack Lee
Moad in a ceremony held at West Main Assembly of God church
Saturday, October 22. The Rev F. Wildon Colbaugh read the
candlelight service at eight o'clock in the evening, and about 300
guests were present.
The bride is a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. A. M. Maggenti, 1009
West Main street, and the bride
groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs.
Jack D. Moad 1012 East Main
street.
Fred Gaten was soloist for
the cemony, and Mrs. George
Heide was at the organ.
The bride, given in marriage
by Mr. Maggenti, wore a gown
of white nylon lace over taffeta,
ballerina length, with white fin-
eer-tip nylon veil. She carriedj
white carnations and stephan
otis.
Miss Evelyn Hubbard, cousin
of the bride from Vallejo, Calif.,
was honor attendant. She wore
a ballerina gown of royal blue
velveteen, with matching shoes
and .veil, and carried a nosegay

Hamilton were bridesmaids.
Their gowns were of light blue
velveteen, ballerina length, worn
with, matching shoes and veils
and they carried bouquets of
carnations.
Rhonda Kinard, cousin of the
bride, was flower girl, and
Michael LeCuyer, another cou
sin, was ring bearer. Rhonda
wor,e a pink crystalette frock
and carried a basket of rose
petals.
Miss Patricia Newbry, sister
of the bride, and Miss Carol
Hubbard, cousin of the bride
from Vallejo, lighted the can
dles. They wore frocks of pink
velveteen with matching shoes
and head bands, and their flow
ers were wrist bouquets of pink
rosebuds.
Ed Bingham was best man for
the bridegroom and ushers were
Willard Lilly, Bob Christison,
Larry Quackenbush, Jack Gault
and Jack Nance.

planned by Mrs. Wayne Puett
and Mrs. Fred Wilson, who also
took charge of decorations. Mrs.
Dale Pruett cut the wedding cake
Miss Cynthia Rukovina and Miss
Flori Sloniger poured and Mrs.
Lloyd Carr took charge of the
guest book.
' For the wedding and reception
the bride's mother wore a dress
of orchid brocade with match
ing coat, grey and white acces
sories and corsage of pink rose
buds. The bridegroom's mother
wore a black velvet dress with
black and white accessories and
corsage of rosebflds.
Among the wedding guests
was the bride's grandmother,
Mrs. Stella Wilson, Medford.
Coming from a distance for the
wedding were Mr. and Mrs. D.
A. Hubbard and daughters, Eve
lyn, Carol and Cynthia, Vallejo;
Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Snider Rock
away; " Ore., and Stephen " Ma
honey, Oakland, Calif., "cousin
of the bridegroom.
Of special note is the fact that
six aurrts and five uncles of the
bride attended the wedding.
They are Mr. and Mrs. L. ' C.
Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Wil
son, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Maharry
and Mrs. Roy Wilson, all of Med
ford, and the Hubbards from
Vallejo and the Sniders from
Rockaway.
Mr.' and Mrs. Moad made a
wedding trip to the coast and
will live in Eugene ' where the
bridegroom is enrolled at the
University - of Oregon. Both
young people, have lived in Jack
son county all their lives, and
both attended Medford schools
graduating from the Medford

Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Alan Lar
son are living at Pasadena,
Calif., following their wedding
September 3 at Moreland Church
of the Nazarene at Portland. The
bride is the former Miss Hazel
Faye Clark and the bridegroom
is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Alfred
Larson, 822 Minnesota avenue.
The bride's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Clark, live at Ti
gard. The bridegroom is studying
for the Nazarene ministry at
Pasadena Nazarene college.
The Rev. Vernon T. Wilcox,
former pastor of the Church of
the Nazarene in Medford, offi
ciated and was assisted by the
Rev. Harold Little.
Attending from Medford were
the bridegroom's parents and his
brother and sister-in-law, .Mr.
and Mrs. Wayne L. Larson, the
latter couple having come here
recently from Nampa, Ida.,
where Wayne Larson was grad
uated from Northwest Nazarene
college;
' The bride wore a white satin
and lace gown with fingertip
veil held by a pearl cap. She
carried a white orchid with roses
and stephanotis.
Mrs. Myron Bish was matron
of honor and .the other attendants
were Mrs. Kay Utz, Mrs. James
Shafer, Miss Bonnie McGraw
and Miss Thelma Peterson.
Monte Bish was ring bearer and
Janis Vanderhoof was flower
girl.
Best man was Wayne Larson
and ushers were Myron Bish,
Clarence- Johnson, Harvey Farr
and Paul Freeberg. .
The 'bride's 'mother wore a
rose colored dress with navy
blue accessories and the bride
groom's mother wore ' a brown
wool suit dress with pink acces
sories. Both had orchid corsages.
A reception was held at the
church.

To Ormel Derrick
Mrs. Anna Lorraine Jones and
Ormel Wright Derrick were mar
ried October 25 in rites reUd by
William C. Atkins of the Seventh-day
Adventist church. The
ceremony took place at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bradford,
2254 Springbroolc road. Mrs.
Bradford is a sister-in-law of the
bride.
For her marriage the bride
wore a blue suit.

The reception was held at the
Bradford home and wedding
cake was served.
The bride is a daughter of
Mrs. Ida Stevens of Colfax,
Wash., and she has lived in Med
ford since 1937. The bride
groom's home has been in Fos
sil, Ore.,and .his parents, Mr.
and Mrs.'j. C. Derrick, live in
Clarkston, Wash. The couple
will live here at 420 Boardman
street.
Meeting Planned
In Ashland for
Dorcas Federation
Southern Oregon Dorcas Fed
eration will convene Monday,
October 31 in the Nazarene
church, Ashland., according to
Mrs. E. F. Archer, Medford.

Delegates are expected from
Klamath Falls, Eagle Point,
Grants Pass, Williams, Cave
Junction and Glendale, as well
as the ' Medford, Valley View
and Ashland churches. The
meeting is called for 10 a.m.
and will close at 3 p.m. There
will be a potluck dinner under
the supervision of the Ashland
society. ' " .
Reports from the various so
cieties will be given in the morn
ing session and will emphasize
the welfare work being carried
on.
The denomination shipped
850,000 pounds of food and
clothing from its warehouse in
Watsonville, Calif., September
13 to India, Israel, Kenya, Libya,
New Guinea, Pakistan and six
teen conferences and missions
in Inter-America. The local so
cieties ship frequently to the
warehouse. .
Pastor C. J. Ritchie, Portland,
state director of Dorcas welfare
work in Oregon, will be one of
the speakers. A short business,
meeting and future , plans will
be discussed at the afternoon
session.
Lady Elks
Lady Elks will serve a dessert
luncheon Tuesday, November 1
at 1:30 p.m. at the Elks club
lounge. Wives of all Elks lodge
members are invited.
Hostesses will be Mrs. R. L.
Lewis, Mrs. L. M. Howard and
Mrs. Edith Grigsby.
High school.
The bridegroom, a member of
the University of Oregon track
squad, set an Oregon high school
shotput record 'in 1953 and was
named to Scholastic Coach maga
zine's high school All-American
track team that year. He also
played football at Medford High
school.

gave her in marriage.
Miss Patricia Jolene Elkins
was the bride's only attendant.
She wore a blue print afternoon
dress and her' corsage was an
orchid. ' Mrs. Frank Walter, sis
ter of the bride, lighted the
candles.

was best man.
They traveled to Portland and
the Oregon coast, and how are

Sell Articles
To Magazines
Two Medford women have rec
ently had articles accepted for
publication in magazines of na
tionwide circulation.
Mrs. Dorothy (Almus) Pruitt
has rereived the news that a
suspense store, "The Mountain,"
which she wrote has been ac
cepted by publishers of "Every
Woman," a magazine edited in
New York City. This will be her
fifth story which has appeared
in print. Earlier ones were ir
the "Ladies Home Journal," and
another was published ". in a
London, England magazine, ' -
"The Mountain" was the result
of sf trip, to Mt. Shasta in Cal
ifornia.' 1
Mrs. Evelyn (John) Ouster
hout of Eagle Point-has an-article,
"Build Your Own Home?"
in the October issue of the Farm
Journal.
This article, accompanied by
photographs of 4he Ousterhout's
horfie explains how on. a limited
budget they have built their
own modern home without paid
labor." v '
Also included in the article
is -a floor plan of the. three
bedroom .home which includes a
patio, barbecue and a fire place
with raised hearth. v '.'
Mrs. Ousterhout, the former
Evelyn Nill, worked as a re
porter for the Mail Tribune and
later attended the University of
Oregon journalism school. After
her marriage to Mr. Ousterhout
she continued her . education at
Oregon State college where he
also was a student.
They now have three children,
Alan, Gretchen and John Nill.
