Herbert E. Nelson were wedded
in a small ceremony October 29
at Sacred Heart Catholic church

ning rites.
Mrs. Robert Beadnell was

Hess served as best man. -
For her marriage the bride
wore a Dior blue wool dress with
mauve colored hat and gloves.
Her other accessories were black
and she wore a light pink cym-
bidium erchid corsage
Mrs. Beadnell wore a blue
gray suit with matching stole
and brown accessories. Her cor
sage was of pink elf roses.
Arrangements of pink quill
chrysanthemums decorated the
altar. Bruno! Pellegrini played
the organ music.
Immediately following the
ceremony the couple went by
plane to Acapulco, Mexico, and
from there will travel to Mexi
co City. Their itinerary also in
cludes Guadalajara, Taxco and
other points of interest.
They will return about Nov
ember 11 and will live at 2649
Roberts road. The bride's three-
year-old daughter, Ann Louise,
will make her home with the
Nelsons.
The bride has been employed
as a stenographer at the Calif
ornia Oregon Power company
and lived here at 837 Pennsyl
vania avenue. She has been a
Medford resident for about nine
years. The bridegroom came
here about seven years ago and
is an assistant engineer yt the
; California Oregon Power com
pany. The bride attended Nebraska
City High school and Compton
Junior college at Compton, Cal.
Mr. Nelson is a graduate of Iowa
State college. He has been liv
ing at the Roberts road address.
The bride is a daughter of
Leo A. Farrell of Nebraska City
and the late Mrs. Farrell.
The bridegroom's parents now
deceased, lived at Keokuk, la.

worked . with Mrs. Tedrow in
parent-teacher association ac
tivities, Mrs. Tedrow having
served as publicity chairman for
various PTA groups. In recent
months she has written publicity
for the Jackson County Council
of Parents and Teachers.

ed Mrs. Tedrow a PTA service
pin and a commerative key chain
designed for the opening of the
new headquarters building in
Chicago of the National Congress
of Parents and Teachers.

plans for a fall luncheon and
card party which will be held
Friday, November 4, in the Odd
Fellows hall. Luncheon will be
served between 12 noon and 1
p.m. and bridge, canasta and

Meeting Planned
For PEO Chapters
Three PEO chapters have
scheduled meetings this week.
Chapter CP will meet Wednes
day, November 2, at the home of
Mrs. H. Chandler Drew, 3528
Delta Waters road, at 1 p.m.
Members are asked to take rum
mage to the meeting, since the
chapter will hold a rummage sale
the next day at 106 North Ivy
street.
Chapter BE will meet Tuesday
evening, November 1, at the
home of Mrs. W. E. Holmes, Grif
fin Creek. A potluck dinner at
6:30 p.m. will precede the meet
ing.

Benefit Follies Opens
Wednesday at Craterian
Attention is focused this week on the two-night production
of the Junior Service league Follies, to be given Wednesday and
Thursday at the Craterian theater. Directed by a profesional
showman from New York City, the cast includes service league
members, their husbands and a group of friends and entertainers
of the valley. - -
Curtain time is 8:30 o'clock
both evenings. Proceeds will go
to support the league's kinder
garten for deaf children.
A number of dinners and other
parties will precede the show.
Wednesday evening Mr. and
Mrs. Alfred S. V. Carpenter
will be hosts for a small dinner
at their home, Topsides, on Old
Stage road. Guests will be Mr.
and Mrs. O. E. Kellogg, Gold
Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Norris Por
ter and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton
Calloway.
Another opening night -dinner
will be given by Mr. and Mrs.
E. A. Littrell, Country Club
estates, at their home. A Creole
menu will be served.

monies, opens with a special
number, "It Will Warm Your
Heart," written by Mrs. Carl
Wimberly Jr., and sung by James
Keeble.
The opening number will also
feature The , Broadway Boys,
The Broadway Girls and The
Follies Dollies.

Golden Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Hughes in
vite their friends to open house
to be held Saturday, November
5 at their home in Fern valley.
The occasion will observe the
Hughes' 50th wedding anniver
sary. Hours will be from 4 to
9 p.m.
They were married In Jack
sonville. Mr. Hughes arrived in
the valley in 1892 from Glen
Cove, Tex., and Mrs. Hughes, the
former Miss Lillie E. Roberts,
came with her parents from Leb
anon, Mo., in 1900.
In 1908 they bought" and
cleared the land and planted the
pear orchard at their present
home site. They are among the
oldest orchardists in the valley.
Their children are Mrs. Don
Long, Fern valley, and Mrs. Mil
dred Bray, Medford. They have
four grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hughes' brother, Dr.
Frank Roberts, lives in Medford.

Spokane Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Edwards
have returned from . Spokane,
Wash., where they attended the
wedding of their son, Darell Ed
wards, to Miss Marilyn Harper.
The ceremony took place Octo
ber 16 at Geiger Air Force base
where the bridegroom, an air
man second class in the United
States' Air Force, is stationed. "
The Edwards were accompan
ied by their daughters, Linda
and Barbara. .
The newlyweds spent part of
their honeymoon here in Med
ford and last week end attended
the wedding of Mr. Edwards'
cousin, Emmett Gerald Revis,
apd Miss Barbara Phipps, held
at Medford First Methodist
church. They have now returned
to Spokane and November 2 Air
man Edwards is to report for
duty at a base near Alberta,
Canada. ,

Arriving Today
Lt. Com. W. R. Ludwig, with
Mrs. Ludwig and their two
daughters, Sherrie and Sandra,
are to arrive in San Francisco
today from Manila in the Philip
pine islands. Commander Lud
wig has been stationed there
with the United States Navy for
the past two years.
The family made the sea voy
age on the USNF Barrett. The
Ludwigs will visit here with the
officer's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Ludwig, and with Mrs.
Ludwig's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Lawrence. Commander
Ludwig's new station will be on
Treasure island in the San Fran

Known for his clever singing of
English and music hall ballads,
Brad Curtis is one of the most
popular of valley entertainers.
Also assisting with the show
is Miss Colleen Hope, Pat Sollee
and Isabel Sickels, who will ap
pear in the "Slaughter on Tenth'
Avenue" number. Among others
assisting the league are Ned
Vilas, Mrs. Helene Donker, Ron
Clark, Hal Todd, Tom Spatz and
Linda Durkee. Mrs. Edward H.
Collins is talent chairman.
Tickets are on sale at Barker's,
Purucker's and Swem's, and all
league members have tickets for
sale. Mrs. Emil Mohr is ticket

social meeting of the chapter and
auxiliary will be held. The com
manders will speak to the group

Jefferson, la., where they visited
Dr. Howard's brother, W. G.

honor at a surprise luncheon
October 31 in Rogue River VFW
clubhouse. Post and auxiliary
members from Shady Cove, Med
ford, Ashland, Grants Pass and
Rogue River were assembled at
the tables when Mrs. Hopkins
was escorted into the room by
her husband, Col. Ted Hopkins.
She was greeted with a song
written especially for her by an
auxiliary member and sung on
the occasion .of her installation
as Department president last
August in Ocean Lake. :
The tables were decorated
with fall flowers and red ber
ries. The place cards used the
motto "Let's quit wishing and go
fishing," which the department
president has chosen as her
slogan for the year. In the ab
sence of Mrs. Tom Lafferty,
Ashland, district president, Mrs,
Dan Krotz presided as master of
ceremonies. Mrs. John Leyen
gave the welcome address which
was followed by brief talks by
