People have a tendency to
judge age more by hair color
than any single other characteris
tic. As grey hair is usually asso
ciated with later life, there is a
tendency to judge a prematurely
grey person as being older than
she is.
(Q) "I am a woman of 30 and
have noticed recently that my
hair is greying. As I definitely
don't want grey hair at such an
early age, I am wondering if
you could help me. Could you
recommend a dye for dark
brown hair which would look as
natural as possible and not do
the hair any harm?" Mrs. J.R.H.
(A) No one could recommend
a hair dye without seeing the
color and quality of the hair.

the mother of children, it is

something about the color of
your hair. Your husband will, in
time, be embarrassed because
you look older than he and may
even be . taken for his mother.
Children, more than adults,
think of age in terms of hair
color. To them, grey or white
hair means being "old." They,.
too, will be embarrassed as they
reach the self-conscious teens if
they have a mother who looks
much older than their friends'
mother and who may be mis
taken for their grandmother.
Because dyeing hair must be
done professionally, you must
realize that you will have much
higher bills for your appearance
than otherwise. However, look
upon this as an investment in
your future peace of mind, and
then the bills will seem worth
while to you.

to tell you poor geeks who go
for each new "wonder" drug as
soon as it is "released," but as
long as the manufacturers con
tinue to turn out a new and bet
ter "wonder" drug season after
season you'll probably brush my
yammerings aside and try the
latest, with the same "dramatic
and immediate" but not lasting
effects.
In view of my skepticism of
the value of the "wonder" drugs
for joint disability it must seem
remarkable how confident I am
that rheumatiz, which is physi
cal degeneration of joint tis
sues, may be prevented, re
tarded, arrested and even re
versed (into regeneration of nu
tritional deficiencies, as I ex
plain in detail in the pamphlet
Calcium and Rheumatiz, avail
able on written, signed request
if you provide a stamped, self
addressed envelope. If you call
it "arthritis" or "rheumatism"
you will receive no reply. If you
send a clipping in lieu of your
request, I will disregard it. If
you fail to sign requests, you
just waste time writing. I'm seri
ous about my health advice, and
I have no time to waste on
triflers.
A lady 39 says she has suf
fered for 13 years with joint and
muscle pain. This made it al
most impossible for her to give
her family (four small children)
minimum care. She used loads
of aspirin, with little relief,
cortisone for a year with only
slight relief, and now (Oct 12)
since February she has been us
ing a new drug, first four tablets
a day, later two a day. She is
still taking two a day, and for
all this time (since February)
she has been feeling perfectly
well and strong.'
Why do I discourage people
who might try this wonderful
remedy for arthritis? Why print
only reports which bear out my
pet theories? Why not be fair
.. . ?
The lady even gives the name
and address of her physician who
will back up her claim of having
been helped by this new drug. If
it has made life worth living for
her in the past seven months
. . . ? The lady reminds me that
I printed a report from an arthri
tis sufferer who had tried the
same wonder drug and had not
had any lasting relief from it.
Along with the Lord's prayer
I ask Our Father to let me tell all
the poor geeks and wiseacres
who suffer from what they call
"arthritis" only what will do
good and nothing that may do
harm.
My dear lady, your report is
the only report of the kind that
I think the good Lord would
want me to print.
