In Certain Areas
Portland U.R) Oregon deer
hunters who failed to bag a buck
during the regular season will
have a chance to take a deer of
their choice in certain areas
starting Oct. 15, the State Game
commission reminded today.
Most of the state east of the
Cascades is to open for one deer
of either sex from Oct. 15
through Oct. 21 with the excep
tion of an area in central Ore
gon which roughly includes the
Deschutes national forest and
parts of Lake, Klamath, Jeffer
son and Deschutes counties. Oth
er smaller areas remaining clos
ed include Sherman county and
various Indian reservations and
federal refuges. " -
The central Oregon area - is
marked with red cross hatching
on the hunting synopsis map
and opens on Oct. 18.
In western Oregon, the hunt
er's choice season is confined to
areas generally outside the na
tional forest boundaries and
within one mile of agricultural
lands in the Willamette valley.
In southwestern Oregon, there
is to be no general hunter's
choice season.. However, the
buck season extends through
Oct. 21.

Many young babies cry too
much because of hunger. Too
many young mothers and cer
tainly too many hospital nurses
obsessed by the fear of over
feeding, keep the baby half
starved. A baby may puke part
of a feeding if it is excessive;
but seldom does a baby cry be
cause of overfeeding. This is
not just my notion. I copped, it
from a lecture to Harrowgate
Medical Society by Professor
Illingworth of the University of
Sheffield.
Much crying is due to being.
too warm. Young babies should
be allowed to enjoy themselves
in nothing but diapers for an
hour, more or less, every day,
and in hot weather all day long.
If you are in doubt whether the
baby is warm enough feel of
the feet; if the baby's feet are
warm the baby is warm enough.
The discomfort of being wet
or soiled makes any normaL ba
by cry.
A common, and commonly un
recognized cause of crying is
loneliness. This crying soon
stops if you pick up and cuddle
the baby.
Some mothers are too dumb
to understand why the baby
cries for hours when left in a
carriage outside with nothing
