ling pile of letters on my desk,
say eeny, meeny, miny, mo, and
pull one out to answer I like to
Talent Elementary
Schools Offering
Training in Music
Talent An expanded program
in comprehensive music training,
both instrumental and vocal, is
offered to pupils of Talent grade
school, school officials have
announced.
Ralph Carroll, band instructor,
trains elementary pupils in
grades five to eight in beginning
band. Students are given both
sectional' and complete , band
instruction, and most are able to
enter the main band by late in
the second term of school. The
school has a limited number of
instruments for dudiIs who are
financially unable to purchase
instruments of their own.,
Carroll augments his program
by training the fourth grade
flutophone band. These fourth
graders learn to read and play
simple music and master the
fundamentals of required self
discipline in working together as
a complete musical unit.
The vocal program, under the
direction of Mrs. Dennis Hannan,
is designed to train pupils to
sing for pleasure, along with
learning necessary requirements
of reading music, and breath
control. This program is avail
able to all students in the ele
mentary grades. Pupils learn to
sing by rote in the first two
grades, but by the end of grade
three they begin reading music.
Groups are kept small and taught
in reasonably short periods to
provide an ideal learning situ
ation. The third grade Harmonica
Kats will again be directed by
Mrs. A. W. Wheeler and Mrs.
Floyd Young. The Harmonica
Kats form a musical novelty
group that learns to play the har
monica for pleasure only.

my province. Second, because
the scrounger clutters up the
mail and takes the time of my
assistants. And third, because
that kind of critter can and often
dpes make a tremendous squawk
to publisher or editor about
Brady's racket. It is worthy of
note that some such letters are
thrown out because they go over'
my head.
