Pastor to Begin
Series of Sermons
"This We Belize, This We
Proclaim," is the title of a se
ries of six sermons to be de-
livered at the 11 a.m. worship
service at the First - Church of
God, Haven and Holly st.
; The first sermon, "Members
of His body and of One An
other," will be given next Sun
day, according to the pastor,
the Rev. Darold H. Jones.
The other five sermons which
concern the church and its- be
liefs, will be given on consec
utive Sundays, with the excep
tion of Rally day, Sunday, Oc
Stober 2. All interested are in-fvited.
.An average of 1.6 cords of
pulpwood is required to make a
ton of wood pulp, which in turn
will make an average of nine
- tenths of a ton of paper or pap

Visited by Bishop
From Puerto Rico
The Right Rev. Albert Ervine
Swift, bishop of the missionary
district of Puerto Rico and ad
jacent islands, will spend Mon
day and Tuesday of next week
in Medford on his return trip
from the general convention of
the Protestant Episcopal church
which has iust concluded in
Honolulu.
The bishop is related to Mrs.
Ralph Matthews of Medford, and
will be a guest at the Matthews
home on Dakota st. during his
stop. Bishop Swift has consent
ed to address an open meeting
on Tuesday at 8 p.m. in St.
Mark's Episcopal church annex,
when he will speak on his work
and upon general conditions in
his area. He also will discuss the
work of the General convention
in Honolulu. St Mark's evening
guild, of which Mrs. Matthews
is a member, will serve refresh
ments following the bishop's ad
dress. This meeting is open to
all who wish to attend, and it is
anticipated the bishop will be
willing to discuss any and all
phases of Puerto Rican life with
interested listeners. No admis
sion will be charged or offerings
made, officers announced.
Separate Services
Planned for Juniors
Phoenix Plans are being
formed at the Phoenix Presby
terian church for separate wor
ships services on Sundays for
Juniors and Junior Intermediate
groups, officers announced this
week. Until recently the Pri
mary department met together
for the opening exercises of the
Sunday school. - :
The high school group meets
at the manse on the church
grounds.
Sunday school opens' at 10
a.m. and worship is at 11 a.m.,
on Sundays. All in the vicinity
interested are invited.
Hale Loofbourrow, was elect
ed choir leader recently and his
wife is organist. Rehearsals are
held at 7 p.m., Wednesdays and
an invitation is extended to any
one whq wishes to join the choir.
A family night will be held
at 7:30 p.m. today. Refresh
ments will be served and a sings
piration and films are planned.
The committee in charge has an
nounced that all who have not
been contacted .wilt be,asked to
donate toward the ' expenses of
the ice cream and other items.
Promotion Sunday will be
held held in the Sunday school
on Sept. 25 and students will
receive certificates. A program
Registrations Set "
For Church School
St. Mark's Episcopal church
school will open for registration
for the fall and winter terms at
9:30 a.m. next Sunday. Classes
will be available for all ages,
from three years up- to and in
cluding senior high students.
' The Junior school, located in
the Guild hall, will be under the
direction of Mrs. Robert J. Mor
ris, supported by a full staff
of teachers and alternates.
The " Senior school will be
housed both in the church and
the annex buildings and will be
under .the direction of G. A.
Douglas Roach. General super
intendent of the school is Hous
ton R. Pitts, with Mrs. Stanley
Philips as director of religious
education.

gram it is urged that all regis
trations be completed this Sun
day. For the case of Junior
scnool, it is asked that parents
or other adults accompany the
children to registration so tnat

Clackamas Construction
Projects Announced
Portland (U.R) Plans for
construction projects on the
Clackamas river totaling 16,
000,000 have meen announced
by Portland General Electric co.
The projects, designed to add
75,000 kilowatts of power o the
company's output, include a 50,-000-kilowatt
dam on the North
Clackamas, improvements in di
version works at Casadero dam,
two miles downstream, and ma
jor additions to the Faraday pow
er plant, two miles . below the
Cazadero project

Prince Albert of Belgium, 21-year-old
brother of King Bau
douin, leaves today aboard the
luxury, lined He de France for
a 10-week tour, of the United
States. The prince will be re
ceived by President Eisenhower
Sept. 27.

Will Speak Sunday
At Assembly of God
"Everyone in Sunday School"
will be the emphasis of the Sun
day school period at the Medford
Assembly of God Sunday at 9 ;45
a.m. The Rev. Wayne Adams, di
rector of Sunday schools for the
Oregon district of the Assemblies
of God, will speak.
The Rev. Adams has had a
varied ministry as pastor, even
gelist and for the past year has
served as director of the state
wide Sunday school program of
190 Assemblies of God in Ore
gon. His mesage will be of in
terest to all the family.
In the worship service at 11
a.m. Mr. Adams will be . the
speaker. Music will be furnished
by members of the choir.
At the Evangelistic rally, at
7:30 p.m. the Rev. Wilmer. N.
Brown, executive director of
northwest region for the Na
tional Association of Evangeli
cals, will be the speaker. The
Rev. Mr. Brown also will show
a moving picture file, "Footsteps
1900 years old," in conjunction
with his message.
General Meeting
In Honolulu Will
Be Address Theme
"Highlights From Honolulu"
will be the theme of an address
to be delivered at St. Mark's
Episcopal church at ll a.m. on
Sunday. The speaker will be Jo
seph E. Burger, vice-president
of the Corneli Seed company of
St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Burger, father of the Rev.
Robert Burger, assistant at St.
Mark's, was a delegate from
the diocese of Missouri to the
general convention of the Prot
estant Episcopal church which
closed this week at Honolulu.
He will discuss the convention
from a layman's viewpoint.
The Honolulu gathering dis
cussed many vitally important
issues and concluded with the
adoption of the largest mission
ary budget in the history of the
church. Mr. Burger will arrive
in Medford from Honolulu on
Saturday,' and will continue to
his home in Webster Groves, Mo.
