er Hermann Tiehen told them
that one of the Americans he met
in Russia had been arrested in
Berlin. The other, he said, had
been arrested in Bucharest, Ro
mania. Churchmen- said they could
not release the names of the Am
ericans immediately.
Father Tiehen was returned
here by the Russians and releas
ed unexpectedly over last week
end, after spending nearly five
years in the Vorkuta labor camp.
The Soviets earlier this month
announced that they will release
three Americans held in Soviet
captivity for seven years or long
er. They did not specify the exact
date for their release.
They were identified as Pvt.
Wilfred Cumish, Pvt. : Murray
Fields and Frederick Charles
Hopkins.
It was not known immediately
if any of these men were trie
