for week-long battle maneuvers
shortly. Mrs. Miller was visiting
her mother who is recovering
from an operation.

Cars Collide Paul E. Scott,
32. of route 2, box 192A, Central
Point, and Robert F. Blanken
ship, 17, of 1299 Stevens st,
Medford, were drivers of cars
which collided at about 2:50
p.m. Monday on Table Rock rd.,
north of Medford, according- to
state police. Minor damage to
both cars was reported. There
were no injuries. Blankenship
was cited for no operator's li
cense. '
To Japan Jerry N. Sides, a
Navy seaman, left Monday for
San Francisco to report back to
duty after a 30-day leave, dur
ing which he visited his par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack R. Sides,
926 Murray st. Sides will fly
from San Francisco to Pearl
Harbor where his ship, the
U.S.S. Mataco, is stationed. The
ship will leave soon and be
based ' for several months in
Japan.

Man Injured Ralph Conrad,
34, Butte Falls, was brought to
Sacred Heart hospital yesterday
afternoon from Medco Camp 4,
Butte Falls, for treatment of an
injured ankle, it was reported
this morning. The injured man
was brought in by Medford Am
bulance service.
Hose Taken Ethel Frances
Chastain, 704 North Central
ave., has reported the theft of 50
feet of blue rubber hose and a
double head stationary sprinkler
from her yard, according to city
police. 'The lawn equipment,
valued at $10, was taken either
during the night of Aug. 26 or
the morning of Aug. 27, police
said.

ing. They included Robert Peter-,
son, Brookings; Ted Barker,
five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.

all in the hospital for medical
care. Surgery patients reported

Medford Minister
Attends Council
The - Rev. Lawrence Krause,
pastor of Bethel Assembly of
God, left Medford Sunday fol
lowing the. evening service to
attend the biennial general coun
cil of Assemblies of God.
The council "will be in session
from Sept. 1 through 6 at Okla
homa City. v
Day services will be devoted
to business and reports of the
organization. There also will be
nine ministers' workshops, and
evening services will feature out
standing features from all parts
of the U.S.
Ministers and missionaries
from all parts of the world will
attend the council. One of the
outstanding meetings will be
held the afternoon of Sunday,
Sept. 4, which has been desig
nated "World Evangelism Day."
10 Cases Listed
In Disease Report
Ten cases of communicable
diseases were reported in Jack
son county for the week ending
Aug. 27. according to a report
released today by7 the county
health department.
. Topping the Jist were three
cases of strep throat, all in Med
ford. There were two cases of
measles, : with "One each in Ash
land and Medford, and two cases
of influenza, with one each in
Ashland and Gold Hill.
Also listed were one case of
three-day measles in Central
Point; one case of trench mouth
at Ashland, and one case of non
paralytic polio, previously re
ported, in Medford.
The Emperor Penguin divides
responsibilities with the female.
To keep the penguin egg off the

Margarethe Westwang, 74, of
920 W. Second st., who died Sun
day, will be held in Conger-Morris
chapel Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Girl Injured in
Auto Accident
An eight-y e a r-old Medford
girl was injured yesterday after
noon in one of three automobile
accidents reported within the
city limits.
The girl, Gloria Ann,' Griffin,
512 West Jackson st., was struck
by a car driven by Harvey Neil
Dutton, route . 2, box 448 A, Gold
Hill, at about 2:25 p.m. Police
said the girl ran in front of the
car, which was unable to stop.
The girl was taken by Med
ford Ambulance "service to Sa
cred Heart hospital. Sle was re
leased this morning after treat
ment for face, hand, and arm
injuries. ' .

Marrs, 420 Park st., and Charles
Dale Wall, 2783 Buckshot Hill
rd., were involved in a collision '
at the intersection of. Sixth and
Ivy sts. at ajsout 4:30 p.m. yes
terday, city police said. There
