So the circus is going to pass
up Madison Square Garden next
year. All right, why cry about it?
Let's have a good wild west show
instead. Something like the
shows of Buffalo Bill, the One
Hundred and One Ranch or
Pawnee Bill. As a kid I always
liked the wild west show better
than the circus. One number that
really thrilled me in Buffalo
Bill's show was the scene show

Asking
Queries from clients. Q. How
long is the Atlantic City board
walk? A. Eight miles. ... Q. In
what film would you say Bette
Davis gave her best perform
ance? A. I do not think Miss
Davis has ever surpassed or even
equalled her performance in
"In Human Bondage." . . Q.
How long has the dial telephone
been in use in this country? A.
Can't say exactly. However, I
know the first major city to have
this type of telephone service
was Los . Angeles, where it was
available over 40 years ago. .
Q. What is the average tempera
ture during April in Paris? A.
About 55 degrees. Same as New
York City . . . Q. Are you famil
iar with a limerick about "A
young lady who walked to Scot
land on stilts?" A . Yes, ma'am.
It is by Edward Lear and goes
as follows:
There was a young lady of
Wilts,
Who walked up to Scotland
on stilts,
When they said it was shock
ing To show so much stocking
She answered: "Then what
about kilts?"

As We Live

books and articles on any sub

reads are the comics in news
papers or comic books. He likes
to fish and watch sports over the
television, while I like more seri
ous programs. We dont' agree on
bringing up the children, either,
He has old-fashioned ideas, while
I try to keep up with the more
modern methods. I wonder how
I can live with him for many
more years when he simply don't
speak the same language about
anything. What would you sug
gest?" (A) For the sake of your chil
dren I advise you to try to de
velop some interests you can
share with your husband. Try,
also, to encourage his interest in
some of the things that you like.
You are finding out, as many
other, people do, that it takes
more than physical attraction
to make a happy marriage. If
your husband has no interest in
intellectual pursuits, try to meet
him on some other ground. That
does not mean that you should
give up your own interest in
reading, but that you should add
some other enthusiasm in keep
ing with your husband's tastes.
Sports, for instance, can be quite
interesting.
One of the most important
areas where you should try to
get together is in rearing your
children. There is nothing more
confusing to a child than to have
his mother require one thing and
his father another.

Training
How sharp do you figure your
self as a quiz program competi

with a view to winning one of
those five figure jackpots? All
right, let's begin wtih sports. As
a starter, try these three simple
questions. 1 When Fred Merkle
failed to touch second base in
that historic game beteween the
Cubs and the Giants, what was
the name of the umpire who call
ed him out? 2 What jockey rode

Blondes
There are 69 varieties of
blondes.-The number one blonde
is the yellow eyed honey blonde.
The top blonde in the world of
this type is Sophia Loren, the
Italian cinema charmer, who is
known as "The Sizzler," When it
comes to that thing called
"oomph," Marilyn Monroe,
Sheree North and Mamie Van
Doren are just not in it with So
phia. If this be treason make the
most of it.
Auld Lang Syne
Auld Lang Syne Note: Frank
Moran, the gallant ringman of
the yesteryear, and "Ping" Bo
die, the great major league out
fielder, are both working in film
studios in Hollywood. It was of
Bodie that Bill McGeehan once
said, "He covers more ground
than any outfielder in either lea
gue sitting down."

By ELIZABETH HURLOCK. PH.D.
You may have to compromise
in this matter. Try to persuade
your husband to accept some of
the more modern methods while
you, in turn, accept some of the
best from his "old-fashioned"
methods. Then your children
will know where they stand and
what to expect from both of you.

Circus Elephant
Goes on Rampage
Kennewick, Wash. (U.R) A
three-ton elephant named Judy

here Monday night and plowed
a two-mile path of c destruction
before it was subdued.
The huge beast was cornered

she belonged, circus officiali

out by the giant pachyderm.
Judy broke loose after
"quarrel" with another ele
