More than 200 guests attended
their mitts and headdresses
were of matching lace. The
maid-of-honor carried yellow
feathered carnations and yel
low Ester Reed daisies, and the
bridesmaid's bouquets were of
yellow feathered carnations and
white daisies.
Sherry Ann Brown of Eagle
Point was flower girl. Her bou
ffant frock was of pink tulle
and net worn with pink ruffled
headdress.
Charles Bray was best man
for the bridegroom and ushers
were Richard Gates, Burlin
game, Calif.; Robert Greer,
brother of the bride, Loren
Vaughn. Phoenix, Ariz., and
Jake Eskew, Medford. Mr. Gates
anc1 Mr. Vaughn, are Alpha Ora-
c-gT fraternity brothers of the
bridegroom.
Bouquets of yellow gladiolus
and white stock decorated the
church. The pews were marked
with white bows and white can
dles stood on the altar and in
the windows.
Arrangements of yellow glad
iolus and white stock decorated
the reception rooms, and the
bride's table was arranged with
pink tapers flanking the wed
ding cake. Mrs. Henry L. Bray
served the wedding cake, and
Mrs. Ray Chubb, Shady Cove,
poured. Mrs. Ed Brown, Eagle
Point, took charge of the guest
bock.
For the event the bride's
mother wore a gown of blue-
gray lace with dark red rose
bud corsage. The bridegroom's
mother was attired in a lace
gown of dusty pink color and
her flowers were stephanotis.
Mr. Stuart and his bride flew
to Detroit for their honeymoon
and are motoring west by way
of Phoenix, Ariz. The bride at
tended high school in Phoenix
and received a degree in Span
ish from Arizona State college,
Tempe. She is a member of Chi
Omega, Pleiades, women's hon
or society and was listed in
Who's Who in American Col
leges and Universities.
The bridegroom, a veteran of
the Korean war, attended the
University of Oregon for a year
alter graduation from Medford
High school and then enrolled
at ASC in geology. He is a mem
ber of Alpha Tau Omega.
Here for the wedding were
Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Maxwell,
Phoenix; Mr. and Mrs. C. E.
Lundgren, Portland, and Mrs.
Ella Cook, aunt of the bride.
The bridegroom's . parents
were hosts for the rehearsal
dinner, held at Rogue Valley
Country club and attended by
the wedding party and Dr. and
Mrs. Bray. The table center
piece was of 'gladiolus, dahlias
and candles.
The newlyweds will be at
home at 1010 South Grape
street after September 1.

At Luncheon Party
Mrs. William Magermann, the
former Miss Elsa Helen Gaylord
of Medford, entertained at lunch
eon last Thursday at the Medford
hotel. She was visiting in the
valley from her home in New
York City and was accompanied
here by her daughter, Miss Kate
Gaylord Magermann.
At the luncheon Thursday
were Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Gore,
Miss Delie Whisenant, Mr. and
Mrs. J. C. Barnes, Mrs. Frank
Klinele and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Edwin Root and Judge and
Mrs. Rawles Moore.
Mrs. Magermann's parents
lived here and her father was
an attorney. They left Medford
more than 20 years ago.
The visitors also attended Ore
gon Shakespearean festival plays
and made a trip to Crater lake.
Mr. Magermann, who could not
make the trip at this time, for
merly was employed at the Bu
reau of Standards and now is in
the advertising field with the Na
tional Broadcasting and televis
ion systems.

Arrives in City
Robert Small arrived In Med
ford Saturday from Seattle,
Wash., and is a guest of Mr. and
Mrs. Berthold Barnum, South
Pacific highway. The wedding
of Miss Charity Williams,
daughter of Mrs. Thomas H.
Williams, 1975 Houston road,
and Mr. Small is set for Tues
day, August 23.
The couple will live In
Seattle.

bur Martin, who observed their
40th wedding anniversary Au
gust 13, were honored at a din
ner given by their children Au
gust 10 at the family home on
Fourth avenue. The Martins
were presented gifts and an an
niversary cake.
Attending were their three
daughters, Mrs. Sydney Baker,
Rogue River, and her three
children; Mrs. Don Chumler and
her daughter, Medford; Mrs.
John Novak and Mr. Novak,
Medford, and the Martin's son,
Jim, Gold Hill, and his family.
Allen Martin, a grandson from
Seattle who is spending the sum
mer in Gold Hill, also was pres
ent.
Two Hostesses
Give Patio Party
Mrs. Mary H. Brown and her
mother, Mrs. L. M. Hamilton,
Arnold lane and Bellinger road,
entertained at their home Fri
day morning at a coffee hour on
the patio. The group played
bridge and the hostesses served
home made breakfast rolls and
coffee breads.
Attending were Mrs. O. D,
Martin, Mrs. Guy Hughes, Mrs.
L. E. Edmonds and daughter,
Diane; Mrs. Clarence Wilson and
daughter, Nancy; and Mrs. How
ard Haskell, who recently re
turned to Medford to live.

George Rockrise, San Fran
cisco architect, was an overnight
guest Friday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Dunbar Carpenter,
Foothills road. The Carpenters
entertained that evening at din
ner at their home. Other guests

ston of Eagle Point. Mr. Rock
rise designed the homes of both
couples.

Mr. and Mrs. John Kenneth
Ness, married recently in Port
land, arrived in Medford last
Monday to make their home.
Their wedding was an event
of July 30 at the Church of the
Madeleine. The bride, the for
mer Miss Doris Joan McCulloch
a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Paul R. McCulloch of Portland
and the bridegroom is a son of
Mrs. Thomas H. Ness of Eugene,
and the late Mr. Ness of Rose
burg. The Rev. James F. Dillon of
ficiated for the afternoon cere
mony. Mr. McCulloch escorted his
daughter to the altar. Her waltz-
length gown of white organdy
was embroidered with an all
over flower pattern and neck
line and hem were finished in a
scalloped shell design. Her fin
gertip veil was held by a cap
of organdy and seed pearls. She
carried a bouquet of white or
chids and stephanotis.
Maid of honor for her sister
was Jeanne Louise McCulloch,
who wore pale yellow embroid
ered organdy and carried yellow
gladiolus. Thomas H. Ness Jr.,
Medford, was best man for his
brother.
Frank N. Bash, Medford, and
Thomas Hawn, Eugene, both
nephews of the bridegroom, were
ushers.
The reception was held at the
McCulloch home.
Mrs. A. Li. Hawn, Eugene, a
sister of the bridegroom; Mrs
John F. Cramer, Portland; Mrs,
Floyd Scott, Longview Wash.,
and Mrs. Paul G. Bauer, Med
ford, served.
The couple made a wedding
trip, to San Francisco.

ding in addition to the bride
groorn's mother were Mr. and
Mrs. A. L. Hawn and family and
Mr. and Mrs. James Plymell of
Eugene; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Ness Jr., and family, Mr. and
Mrs. C. W. Wakefield and daugh
ters, and Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Bash
and family, all of Medford, and
Mr. and Mrs. M. O. Lydon and
family, Eugene. Mrs. Hawn, Mrs.
Wakefield, Mrs. Lydon, Mrs.
Bash and Mrs. Plymell are all
sisters of the bridegroom.
The bridle is a graduate of
Willamette university and. the
bridegroom is a graduate of the
University of Oregon. The new
lyweds are living at the Plaza
apartments.

Miss Isobel Carr
Leaves for Texas
Miss Isobel Carr left Wednes
day for Wichita Falls, Tex.,
where she will be a guest of
Colonel and Mrs. Donald Zeis
and their daughter, Miss Priscilla
Zeis. The Zeis family formerly
lived in Medford.
Later in the summer Miss Carr
will motor as far west as Den
ver with Mrs. Zeis and her
daughter, since Miss Zeis attends
college in Colorado. Miss Carr,
a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Carr, 16 Florence avenue, will
return to Southern Oregon col
lege, Ashland, this fall for her
senior year.

Guest in Medford
Mrs. Jack Davis, former Med
ford resident now living at
Oakland, Calif, was a visitor here
last week. She stayed at the
home of her son- in- law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Dick Franks, Ideal Court, who
motored with her Thursday as
far as Redding, Calif., on her
return trip home.
Mrs. Davis was guest of hon
or at two dinner parties, one at
the home of Mrs. Charles Bott
jer, Jacksonville highway, and
the other at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Mel Younger, Edgevale or
chard. She was also a luncheon
guest of Mrs. Alto Pruitt.

Linns in Portland
For Court Picnic
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn L. Linn,
with their daughters Penny and
Cheryl, attended the grand court
picnic, Order of Amaranth, held
at Portland August 14.
Mrs. Linn, grand charity of the
grand court, reported there were
more than 450 present, and most
of the courts throughout the
state were represented.
Mrs. William Pritchard and
Orra B. Cole, grand associate
matron and patron, were in
charge of the activities and were
assisted by the associate matrons
and patrons of all the courts.

Mrs. L. B. Humphrys of Hong
Kong, China, a houseguest of
Mrs. Myron Root, 28 North
Berkeley way, for the past two
weeks has been entertained at
numerous luncheon and dinner
events.
She is a former resident and
plans to leave here August 25
for California to visit before de
parting for China where she
makes her home with her son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Barnett. Mr. Barnett
is chief flight engineer for the
Hong Kong division of the Pan
American Air lines.'
Mrs. Root has entertained at
two luncheons which honored
her houseguest and others who
have entertained at luncheons in
her honor are Mrs. William Isaacs
at her home, Big Rock lodge on
the Rogue river, and Mrs. Rawles
Moore.
Mrs. Paul Janney entertained
at dinner Friday evening for her
and Mr. and Mrs. J.- C. Collins
also held a dinner party at which
Mrs. Humphrys was honor guest.
Yesterday Mrs. A. W. Aya
held a luncheon party at her
home which honored both Mrs
Humphrys and Mrs. I. E. Schuler
who returned Thursday from an
extended stay in Mexico City.
Mrs. Humphrys and Mrs. Root
also have been attending Ore
gon Shakespearean festival plays
at Ashland.

Doctor Receives
Paris Appointment
Dr. Stanley Gustin, son of W.
H. Gustin, Ashland, has written
friends in the valley that he re
ceived an appointment to the
American hospital, in Paris,
France, and has now been work
ing at the hospital for about a
month.
Dr. Gustin received his degree
in medicine from McGill uni
versity in Toronto, Can., and re
cently completed two years of
interneship.
The appointment to the hos
pital in Paris is for a two-year
period, and Dr. Gustin is at pres
ent assigned to the out-patient
department of the hospital.
The Gustins formerly lived in
Medford.

Miss Mary Lucile Beaton,
whose wedding to Mortiz Elbert
is set for early fall, was honored

Miss Beaton is a daughter of
Mrs.. A. J. Beaton, Medford, and
her fiance is a son of Mr. and
Mrs. F. J. Elbert, also of Med
ford. He is serving with the
Navy on the USS Curtin.
