Inspections Made City Fire
Marshal Truman Nelson said
that nine business occupancies
were inspected Friday. He issued
five orders for correction of fire
hazards.
Ties on Fire Damage was
confined to ties on the main
Southern Pacific railroad about
midnight last night in a fire
about one mile south of Med
ford. The rural pumper extin
guished the blaze. Firemen re
ported that three gasoline spills
were flushed from downtown
streets during the week end.
Logger Injured Roland Pre
fontaine, 18, route 1, Gold Hill,
is at Sacred Heart hospital for
treatment of a leg fracture re
ceived about noon Sunday when
he fell from a pole while logging
near Foots creek, according to
a report of the accident. He is
self-employed.
Niece Visits Mr. and Mrs. Ed
Scallbrud, Minneapolis, Minn.,
are visiting at the home of Mrs.
Scallbrud's uncle and aunt, Mr.
and Mrs. O. M. Johnson, 411
King st., formerly of Minneap
olis, Minn. They arrived here
from Ilwaco, Wash., where they
visited other relatives and they
will leave here for Salt Lake
City, Utah. They arrived Sat
urday and expect to visit here
until the middle of the week.

Returned Ernie Holbrook,

Motorcycle shop, returned home
the end of the week from Sacred
Heart hospital where he had
been a patient for three weeks.
He lives at 4661 South Pacific
highway.
Visitors Leave Mr. and Mrs.
Al Wall, Lodi, Calif., left Sat
urday for their home by way of
the Redwood highway after visit
ing here several days with Mr.
and Mrs. John Mansfield, 1515
Crater Lake ave. During their
stay they visited the Jackson
ville Museum, Crater lake, and
other southern Oregon points.

Articles Taken Marvin James
Kyzar, route 2, box 251, Med
ford, reported the theft of sev
eral articles from his car this
morning while it was parked in
a lot on South Front st. between
Main and Eighth sts., according
to city police. Kyzar listed a
red, metal tool box, miscellane
ous mechanics tools, an orange
cotton blanket, and a clock as
the items taken from his auto,
police said. Their total value
came to approximately $43.88.

tendants reported today.
To Wyoming A. C. Brisbine,
1847 Stewart ave., will leave
Wednesday for Worland, Wyo.,
to visit for about three or four
weeks at the home of a daughter
and her family. While there he
also will attend a wedding of
a granddaughter.

Late Hours Lee Verle Wayne
Hopkins, 18, of 447 North Fir
st., was arrested at 2:05 a.m.
Sunday and confined to the city
jail on charges of late and un
usual hours, according to city
police. Hopkins pleaded guilty
in municipal court this morning
and was sentenced to 10 days
in jail from City Judge James
M. Main. The sentence is sub
ject to being suspended at a later
date, police added.

brought today to Medford by
private plane for treatment of
shoulder injuries and is at Sa
cred Heart hospital, attendants
reported.

Injured Mrs. Mary O'Brien,
83, Mae st., was taken this

injured her shoulder and arm,

ants. Mrs. William Bishop, 1220
East Main st., was admitted
there this morning for medical
care, and ottier medical patients
reported are William Crandall,
Hornbrook, Calif., and Mrs. Har
vey Callahan, Gold Hill.
Leg Fractured Mrs. William
Berry, Compton, Calif., is at Os
teopathic hospital where she is
receiving treatment for a leg
fracture. She received the in
jury when she stepped on a
rock and twisted her foot, ac
cording to the hospital report.
She has been visiting at Rogue
River at the home of Mrs. W.
F. Thompson.

Transferred Kenneth L.
Farner arrived this week from
Eugene from where he was
transferred by the Eugene dis
trict office of the social security
administration to the Medford
office. He is a field worker and
will work two days each week
at the Grants Pass offices. He
replaces Howard Isberg who left
here Aug. 1 with his family for
Astoria, after being transferred
to the offices there. Mr. and Mrs.
Farner and their, sons, Kenny
Jr., 6, and Carl, 10, are living
at 1512 Terrace dr.

Sister of John Orley
Sought in Medford
Friends of John Orley, 32, of
4026 East 55th st., Maywood,
Calif., are seeking a sister of the
man who is believed to live in
Medford.
Orley died Saturday as the re
sult of head injuries received
that day when his car went out
of control and collided with a
truck near Maywood. Funeral
services are not set, pending noti
fication of the dead man's sister,
who has married and whose
name is unknown to the friends.
Mrs. James Stockstead, a next
door neighbor of Orley, will re
ceive calls at Logan 5-2116, May
wood, Calif., in regard to the
sister, according to word re
ceived here from Mrs. Stock-etead.
