who were married July 17 in

is the former Doris Kepley, and

Young is a son of Roy Young,

Dakotans Hold
Annual Picnic
The 20th annual Dakota pic
nic was held July 31, with about
200 former residents of North
and South Dakota attending. A
basket lunch was served at
noon, and coffee, ice cream and
punch were furnished by the as
sociation. Fred Kuest was in
charge of serving these.
A program of music, games
and contests followed dinner
under the direction of Mrs. Eric
de Place, who also served as
master of ceremonies.
Mrs. C. R. Alexander's band
provided string music, and talks
were given by "old timers."
Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Murrey of
Medford won a prize for being
the couple married for the long
est time. The Murreys have won
the prize each year since it was
first awarded in 1949. The Mur
reys, each 82 years old, have
been married 57 years.
Named to the planning com
mittee for next year are Mr. and
Mrs. Kooken, Medford and Mr.
and Mrs. Welch, Grants Pass.
Pythian Club Plans
Meeting on Tuesday

day, August 9, at 8 p.m. at Girls'
Community club with Mrs.
Harry Barneburg and Mrs. Don
Anderson as hostesses.
Past Chiefs' club and mem
bers' families enjoyed a picnic
supper last week at Jackson Hot
springs, with approximately 20
in attendance.

The annual picnic of the
Caster family was held Sunday,
July 31, at Jackson Hot Springs
with 61 members present. The
picnic luncheon was served at
noon, with swimming following.
Four generations were pres
ent. Representing the oldest
generation were Mrs. J. W.
Pruett, Medford; Mrs. Otto Cas
ter, Phoenix, and Mrs. John
Caster, Central Point, and the
family members present were
for the most part descendants of
these three women.

Couple Married
In Recent Rites
Maria Stembridge of VVinlock,
Wash., oecame the bride of Glen
Parker in rites read July 23 at
the home of Elder William E. At
kins of the Seventh-day Adven
tist church.
The ceremony was performed
at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
About 15 guests attended.
Mrs. Agnes Cocherell, Cen
tralia, Wash., was the matron
of honor and Miss Kay Stem
bridge, also of Winlock, was
bridesmaid for her sister.
Mark A. Green was best man.
Mr. Cocherell gave the bride
in marriage. She wore an orchid
colored suit with white acces
sories and her corsage was of
pink and white flowers.
About 30 persons attended a
reception given by Mr. Green.
The bride is a daughter of
Mrs. Lucille Stembridge, Win
lock, and the bridegroom, who
is employed at the Rogue Valley
Country club as a musician came
here from Portland. He is a son
of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Parker of
Grandview, Wash.
