Russia To Support
Satellite Project
Moscow (U.R) " Communist
Party Secretary Nikita Khrslv
chev said yesterday Russia will
support America's p r o j ec t to
shoot an artificial Earth satellite
into space if it is "in the interest
of humanity."
Khrushchev was asked for his
views on the American space
w satellite plan by a newspaper
correspondent at a Swiss Era
bassy reception.
k "If it is in the interest of
oumanity we will never refuse
cither our aid or our coopera
tion." the party secretary re
plied.
'i "But," he went on, "it is dif
ficult for me to discuss this ques
tion although I have heard about
it. I have not yet read the text
of the American announcement,
and I am not an expert in this
field."
Screaming Baby Sitter
Frightens Burglar
Salem (U.R) A 17-year-ld
girl baby-sitter routed a
youthful burglar early yester
day.
Police said the intruder cut
through a screen door at the A.
G. Wilkerson residence in Salem,
tossed a blanket over sleeping
Mary Jane Hastay, and struck
her twice on the head with a re
volver when she awakened and
screamed.
The burglar apparently fled
when the girl began screaming,
police said.

wife and five children of this
man all walk in their sleep. So,
night after night, though he
works in thev daytime, he stays
awake practically all night to
see that none of his family gets
into trouble while sleepwalking.
He never wakes them up. Guides
them back to bed.

Favorite
One of my favorite menu items
is veal cutlets. I like them bread
ed, with a little spaghetti on the
side. I was therefore interested
in noting that the favorite dinner
of Princess Margaret of Britain
is: Iced melon, consomme,
smoked salmon and veal cutlets.
Can't say how the Princes likes
her veal cutlet prepared. I will
check.
Deserted Dogs

Rather than desert her dog for
that period, Tallulah Bankhead
recently refused a very high sal
aried offer to appear at a London
night club. This recalls that Mrs.
Patrick Campbell, when in the
United States, refused a stage of
fer from London for the same
reason. Then, in the latter part
of her career, Mrs. Campbell was
eager to play the part and fur
thermore, she needed the money.
But she wouldn't desert her dog
which, she said, would suffer to
the point of torture by a separa
tion.

States said yesterday a rocket
trip to Mars would cost only
about 5500,000.
