Assume Name The business
name "Rogue Logging' has been
assumed by Robert N. Harris
and Laberne F. Keller, accord
ing to recorders in the Jackson
county recorder's office. The
same business name was retired
by David L. and Robert N. Har
ris. Howard C. Lindgren and

Brother Visits Mr. and Mrs.
Aubrey G. Smith, San Francisco,
are visiting at the home of his
sister, Mrs. Ethel Latham. 335
South Ivy st. Smith was super
intendent of schools in Jackson
county prior to 1925, and now is
retired from the San Francisco
school systems.
Home From Classes Miss
Grace Smith of the Needlecraft
shop returned home this week
from Seattle where she attended
a week's school at which classes
were conducted in needlework.
The course also included instruc
tions in knitting, crocheting and
rug making.
Rings Taken James R. Lillie,
proprietor of Jim's Variety
shop, 1184 Court st., reported
to the city police department
yesterday the theft of 11 rings
from his store, according to po
lice records. The rings were
valued at over S100, and includ
ed several different types of
agate, police said.
Federal Exams The civil
service commission has announc
ed an examination for safety
inspector for positions paying
83,410 and $5,060 a year in the
bureau of motor carriers, inter
state commerce commission, in
various cities throughout the
United States. A written test
will be given and appropriate
experience is required. Further

In Coast Hospital Mrs. Grov
er Corum is at the McAuley hos
pital at Coos Bay after under
going emergency surgery there
last week while visiting her son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Nic Benjamin. Her hus
band and twin sons, James and
Richard, went to the coast city
to be with her. She may now
have visitors and those who wish
to write her may do so in care
of the McAuley hospital, Room
311, Coos Bay.

John E. West, 85, of Route
2, Box 404, Medford, died today
in a local hospital. Conger-Morris
funeral home is in charge
of funeral arrangements.
BERTHA SNYDER
Bertha M. Snyder, 68, of Gold
Hill, died yesterday in a local
hospital. Conger-Morris funeral
home is in charge of funeral
arrangements.
JOSEPH OWENS
Graveside funeral services for
Joseph M. Owens, 64, who was
found dead in his cabin in For
est Creek road yesterday, will
be held in Siskiyou Memorial
park Thursday at 9 a.m. with
the Rev. Raymond W. Hum of
the Church of the Nazarene offi
ciating. Conger - Morris funeral
home is in charge of funeral
arrangements.
The deceased was born in Chi
cago, 111., in 1891, and was a
veteran of World War I, serving
from Feb. 23, 1918, to June 9,
1919, as a private, Co. C, 319th
Signal Battalion. He saw action
overseas at Aisne-Marne, Marne
Sector, St. Mihiel, Verdun, and
Meuse-Argonne.

Rosanna Smith, 65, of Eagle
Point, were held in Conger-Morris
chapel today with the Rev.
D. E. Millard officiating. Com
mittal was at Central Point

the subject is qualified to enlist
in an electronic program, Tate

Irrigation Pipe Theft
Reported to Sheriff
The theft of 15 20-foot lengths
of aluminum irrigation pipe and
other irrigation equipment has
been reported to Jackson county
sheriff's officers.
Officers said the theft occur
red sometime last week end at
the home of Leland M. Metz,
route 1.' box 403, (Ross Lane)
Medford.
The same 2-inch diameter
pipe, sheriff's reports stated,
was in the Metz yard. Included
in other equipment taken were
six 20 - pound low pressure
sprinkler heads.
. Industrial surveys indicate
4.5 families in the U.S. today
own two or more automobiles
for family use.

sprayed a heavy aroma of per
fume across the south side cf
Peoria.
A 55-gallon barrel of per
fumed oil developed a leak
while being transported to a
loading dock. Scented oil drain
ed out on streets all along the
route and at the dock when the
truck parked.
Some men scooped up the per
fumed oil from a big puddle that
formed at the loading dock. It
was worth $100 a pound.
