Baptists Schedule
Summer Camp Near
Union Creek Soon
- Summer camp sessions for
Conservative Baptist churches of
southern Oregon will begin this
week, end at the Union-Rogue
Baptist camp, located between
Prospect and Union creek.
Men from the Medford First
Bapist church will join others
of the area in a men's retreat
Friday through Sunday noon,
July 8, 9 and 10. Speakers for
these sessions will be Kenneth
Grafham, of Australia, the Rev.
Charles Losie, and James Har
dy. The schedule will "include
missionary films, help on boys'
work' in the local church, inspir
ational time, and recreation.
Junior Camp
Junior camp for those who
have completed grades 4, 5 and
6, "will begin Sunday evening.
Transportation will be provided
from the church at 3:30 p.m.
Camp director will be the Rev.
Virgil R. Savage, pastor of the
Roseburg Conservative Baptist
church, and camp pastor will be
the Rev. James W. Neely, of
Medford.
Speaker will be Howard
Peach. Other counsellors and tea
chers' will complete the staff.
The program will include Bible
classes, handicraft, hiking, swim
ming and other recreation. The
camp will close Saturday morn
ing, July 16. Registrations for
the camp may be obtained by
calling the church office, tele
phone 2-9197 during morning
hours.
Sunday evening, July 17,
youth camp, for those who have
completed the seventh grade and
above will begin and continue
through July 23. The women's
retreat will follow on Monday
and Tuesday, July 25 and 26.
Washington Senator
Given Term in Prison
Tacoma U.R) State Sen.
Jack Rogers, Bremerton, was
sentenced to serve four months
in a federal prison road camp
for failing to file an income tax
return in 1950.
Rogers, a Democratic state
senator since 1945, also was
fined $500. Sentence was passed
by Federal Judge George H.
Boldt who denied a request by
Rogers that the sentence be
served in the King county Jail.

settlement of a six-day dock
strike. An agreement reached
Wednesday gave 12,000 dock
and port administration em
ployees a 25 per cent pay raise
