Prevention of Motion Sickness
Some victims get it when they
go to sea. Some get it when they
go out fishing on lake or river
in a rowboat. Some get it riding
in a train. Some, riding in an
automobile. Some, flying, even
at low level. Some well, I
haven't heard from anyone who
gets "seasick" riding an elevator
or an escalator, but now I'll
probably hear from several who
do.
If there were not so much
bowling to do, I suppose I might
devote an hour or two to a sur
vey of the medieval authorities
and render unto tolerably under
standable language their scien
tific explanations of motion sick
ness.
But it wouldn't do a bit of
good, and, bowling or no bowl
ing, I still try to follow the in
junction of Hippocrates. Up to
the present moment-no plausible
theory to account for the suscep
ibility of some persons and tne
apparent immunity of others to
motion sickness.

Portland The third edition
of "Radioactive Minerals the
Prospector Should Know," pub
lished by the state department of
geology and mineral industries,
is now available, the department
announced this week.
The new edition has been re
vised and enlarged to incorpor
rate new developments in uran
ium prospecting. It is written by
Max Schafer, field geologist for
the department in Grants Pass.
The 21 - page publication is
available from the department
offices in Portland, Grants Pass
and Baker for 30 cents.
