Like typical famiiles in all parts of the nation, Medford families enjoy sports and recreation together.
Favorite recreation of the J. P. Rowanswho live at 828 Minnesota avenue, is to take a camping. trip into the
nearby hills, or to one of the many lakes. Here Mr. Rowan and the three young Rowans show how they pack
the station wagon with sleeping bags', food basket, tackle boxes and other camp necessities. Jamie, 9, holds. the
camp lantern, 12-year-old Becky rests and Johnny, 3, smiles broadly in anticipation of the fun everyone will
have.
Pictured here in a three-generation pose are the Thorndikes. "Grandpa" Eugene Thorndike, 55 South Berk
eley way, a well known retired banker is shown here with his son, William D. Thorndike, 2012 Hillcrest road, and
his grandson. The youngest of the trio, too little to be burdened with his official name of William Downie Thorn
dike Jr., is called Billie. The Thorndikes came to the valley more than 30 years ago.

today salutes all fathers and
presents here a representative
group of Medford fathers with
their families.
Vincent P. Bevis, who will be principal of Medford's new junior high school next fall, is shown here with his
son, John, 3, and his two daughters. Kathy is 8 years old and Jeanne, 13, will be attending her father's school.
After the photographer left, the family attended a recital in which Kathy played a piano number. The family
home is at 1408 Crown avenue. .
