debut at the Palace, New York,

"That criticism of long hair
styles by a woman featuring the
closely clipped fashion was catty
and ridiculous," writes a Balti
morean. "Long hair is woman's
crowning glory. Those who have
long hair wear it that way and
those with a skimpy supply of
hair wear it short, the poor
things. Anything that makes a
woman look more like a woman
and less like a man adds to her
charm, seductiveness and desira
bility. That closely clipped short
hair-do decreases a woman's sex
appeal about 99 per cent."

Right Girl
Quite a few young women con
sider Gregory Peck as their idea
of the "right man" to marry
Therefore, it may be interesting
to them to know what is Mr
Peck's idea of the "right girl.'
He once described her as one
"who has the athletic body of
a Scandinavian, the keen mind
of the Englishwoman, the Ital
ian's love of music, the industry
of a German hausfrau and the
Frenchwoman's understanding of
love.
Asking
Queries from clients. Q. Is
there really a town in the Unit
ed States named Double Trou
ble? A. Yes, sir. It is in New
Jersey. Q. What is the size of
the principality of Monaco? A.
The tiny country you refer to
has an area of only 375 acres. To
give you an idea how small that
is, Central Park in New York
City has an area of 840 acres
Q. Why do you persist in using
the term "female" when so
many, women object to it? A.
There is no persistence involved
I use the term "female" when
it seems apt. Any objection to
that is ridiculouj. If men are
constantly referred to as "males'
what's wrong in referring to
women as "females"? Not so
many women object to it, any
how. Only those who are habitu
al correctors of other people's
pronunciation, grammar, etc. It
is a type of nagging.

were no drownings.
