citations were issued, city police
said.

To Build A building permit
has been issued to W. L. Moore,
823 Broad St., Medford, for con
struction of a $5,700 residence.
A permit also was issued to A.
S. and Billie E. Robinson, 515
South Central ave., Medford, for
$500 worth of remodeling of a
residence to a restaurant.
Grass Fire An area of about
two acres was burned in a grass
fire along the Southern Pacific
railroad tracks in the Tolo dist
rict. Central Point rural fire
men stated that the fire was
easily controlled. A discarded
railroad flare was thought to
have been the cause, they reported.
Arrested Elmer Boyd Gra
velle, 24, Jacksonville, was ar
rested yesterday by city police
and is being held on suspicion
of grand larceny, according to
jail records. The case involves
items taken from Jackson Hot
Springs, deputy sheriffs said.
Theft Reported Operators
of Rogue Drive-In theater have
reported the theft of five speak
ers, valued at $37.50, from the
theater. They were taken some
time between 7 p.m. May 15
and 7 p.m. May 16, according to
a report filed in the sheriffs
office.

Orders Issued Five orders
for correction of hazardous con
ditions were issued yesterday by
City Fire Marshal Truman Nel
son. He inspected three business
occupancies, a warehouse and a
place of public assembly. Three
complaints of hazards in resi
dential areas were inspected.

berg, 8 months, daughter of Mrs.
Patricia Carlberg, 509 Scenic
ave., Ashland, is a surgery pa
tient at Community hospital, at
tendants reported today. Also
there for surgery is Mrs. John

FOE Lodges The Medford
aerie of the Fraternal Order of
Eagles will conduct a Fathers
day program this evening at the
lodge hall at 219 West Main st.
Roy Picard is chairman of the
entertainment and families of
members are to attend. The
event will open at 9 p.m.", and
continue until 12. Women are
to take potato salad and the
lodge men will furnish a dutch
lunch.
Hits Pole Mrs. Stevan Dut
kiewicz, 32, of 518 Franquette
st., suffered a badly injured arm
when the car she was driving
struck a telephone pole about
10:55 a.m. today, Medford ambu
lance attendants, who took her
to Sacred Heart hospital, re
ported. A report from the hos
pital indicated that she also re
ceived knee and leg injuries
and bruises.

Twins Born Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Dunlap, route 1, box 315
A, Central Point, are parents of
twin sons born June 16 at Com
munity hospital. The boys
weighed 4 pounds 1 ounce, and
4 pounds 12 ounces. They .have
been named David Mathew and
Duane Lloyd. The Dunlaps now
are parents of four boys and a
girl. ;
Young GOP To Map
Campaign Strategy
Detroit (U.R) Delegates were
scheduled to map strategy for
the Young Republican phase of
the 1956 presidential campaign
at their convention today before
listening to a speech by Vice
President Richard M. Nixon.
The campaign strategy meet
ing, one of the high points of
the convention,, was expected to
endorse a resolution to "draft Ei
senhower for re-election" and
then work out plans to achieve
that goal,
Nixon will deliver the princi
ple speech of the convention to
night. . -. ..
Gov. Fred Hall of Kansas
sounded the call for Eisenhower
support last night in a speech be
fore the 1600 delegates at the
opening day general session.

Not City Crew The city
Public Works Department re
ports that yesterday's incident,
when Leonard Weaver's car was
sprayed with white paint while
parked on West .Main st., did
not involve a city crosswalk
painting crew. Apparently . a
state highway department crew
was to blame, as the city crew
has not been out for over a
week, Thorpe said.

Firemen Extinguish
Gasoline, Grass Fires
Medford firemen with the
rural pumper truck extinguished
a gasoline blaze with only minor
damage yesterday afternoon at
the Veritas orchard on Hillcrest
rd.
A spray rig with a freshly
filled gasoline tank ignited when
the motor was started, firemen
said. Flaming gasoline also in
volved a nearby shed. Firemen
were summoned about 1:50 p.m.
About the same time another
crew was called to put out a
grass fire at the rear of a lot be
longing to Fred Bortz, 1512
North Riverside ave. Sparks
from a trash fire .ignited the
grass. ,
PIANIST ARRIVES
Miss Mary L. Spruce from
Macon, 'Ga., arrived in Medford
last Saturday to make her home
at 953 South Ivy st. Miss Spruce,
a pianist, came here to furnish
music at the Church of the Open
Bible at 415 East Main st. She
also will assist in Sunday school
work, and has been associated
in church music and work for
some time.

Bellane, 2V&, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Anthony J. Bellane, San Jose,
Calif., is a surgery patient at
Osteopathic hospital, and Mrs
A. R. McDonald, Eagle Point, is
there for medical care. The Bel

Eisenhower's controversial Dixon-Yates
power plan came to a
vote in the House.
Rep. Henry Aldous Dixon, a
Utah Republican, backed the
administration in the 198 to
169 vote against building a new
TV A power plant as a substitute
for Dixon-Yates. Rep. Sidney
R. Yates, Illinois Democrat,
voted for TVA and against the
Dixon-Yates plan.
The two congressmen are not
the Dixon and Yates whoa
names the plan bears.
