In the park across from the

the thousands are cluttering up

the potentials of "I saw our

In the current session, the Sen

is getting a lot of work done.
Under the leadership of Sen.

Senate has passed 408 bills and
has approved 30,728 nomina

Sicilian Election
Boost for Scelba
Palermo, Sicily (U.R)
The Christian Democrats', vic-
tory In Sicily's regional election
was regarded today as a boost
for Premier Marion Scelba's cen
trist coalition and a key to his
survival in the impending gov
ernmental crisis.
The pro-American premier, a
; Sicilian himself, faces a no-con-;
fidence motion when the Ital-
iian Parliament re-convenes in
j Rome June 13. His party's gains
T in the week end election were
t teen as an important factor in
swinging the sentiment in his
favor.
Scelba had successfully stall
ed off the cabinet crisis on the
ground that the Christian Demo
crats should first see the Sicilian
elections through.
In one of the most orderly el
ections in its history, the land
of vendetta gave the Cathotic
i nartv a clear edee over the Com
munis-t-Socialist opposition. The
Christian Democrats gained sev
1 en seats in the 90-seat parlia-
i, ment of the autonomous island
region.
The gains gave the Christian
Democrats a 37-30 edge over the
leftist group in Parliament, the
number of Communist -Social
ist seats remained unchanged.

When the Washington Sena

of parking at Griffith Stadium
is of little moment, except per
haps on the week end. During a
recent week end, a lot' of fans
drove into a nearby recreation
department playground, and
were waved in by a gang of
eager kids who collected $1.50
per car.
The kids disappeared and
right behind them came the cops,
who put a ticket under each
windshield wiper for parking in
an illegal zone. Whatever the
fan paid to get into the ball
park, he also paid $1.50 to park,
and a $3 fine for a parking vio

To Accept Negroes
Oklahoma City, Okla. U.R)

Negroes next September.
The State Board of Regents
For Higher Education voted 8
to 1 yesterday to authorize gov

leges to accept qualified Negro
enrollees for the fall term.
The sole dissenting vote was
cast by Frank Buttram, Okla
homa City oilman, who once
was a Democratic candidate for
governor.
Regents President W.' D. Lit
tle, Ada., Okla., newspaper pub
lisher, said the policy was
adopted to conform with the re
cent U.S. Supreme Court ruling
outlawing segregation of the
races in public schools.
Previously, Oklahoma has
furnished "equal but separate"
educational facilities for Ne
groes. However, Negroes have been
admitted to graduate schools in
state colleges for several years.
Negroes seeking undergraduate
work have been required to at
