Milk Price War at
Prineville Ended
Prineville (U.R) A three-
day milk war subsided as quick
ly as it started yesterday when
independent operators and two
dairies of the Central Oregon
Milk Producers Pool agreed to
"prewar" prices for milk.
The pact provided that Bick
ers' dairy here will continue to
sell only raw milk. Sunrise and
Clauson dairies will boost their
slashed raw milk from 60 to 80
cents a gallon, the same as Beck
ers' now receives.
The agreement is effective to
day and is intended to step the
spread of price cutting which for
a time threatened to spread to
other central Oregon towns.
Kenneth Green, manager of
the central Oregon pool, said
that reports that his organization
had met to slash milk prices to
meet independent cuts were
false.
