Angered Citizens
Of Kalamazoo Plan
To End Killings
Kalamazoo, Mich. (U.R)
Angry citizens who attended the
funeral of eight-yearld Jeanie
Singleton began an all-out war
Saturday against sex-crazed kill
ers. Dr. Leo Resmussn, Kalama
zoo coroner, organized a civic
committee and appealed to citi
zens to report any sex offenses
or suspected sex offenses
promptly.
Rasmussen also suggested or
ganizing a speaker's bureau to
give safety talks on moral of
fenses to school children and
parent-teacher groups.
The coroner called a meeting
for June 16 to discuss action
against degenerates and he in
vited civic organizations to send
representatives to the confer-'
ence.
Jeanie, a crippled child with
a sunny disposition, was raped
and strangled near a lonely
country road 14 miles north of
Kalamazoo. Her body was found
beneath a blood-specked pine
tree and an autopsy confirmed
fears that she was the victim
of a sex degenerate.
Not At Services
The little girl was buried Fri
day at Mount Ever-Rest Ceme
tery after services at the New
Apostolic Church where detec
tives mingled with mourners in
hope the slayer would attend
and make some slip. They said,
however, he apparently did not
go to the services.
Police admitted their only
clue was a report of a 1949 or
1950 two-tone blue car which
was seen in the area where
Jeanie's body was found.

The 32-year-old "moll" of the
infamous "Mountain Murder
Mob" of Jack Santo and Em-
mett Perkins was executed in
the San Quentin gas chamber
Friday but only after two agon
izing delays. Doctors, were strap
ping a stethoscope to Mrs. Gra
ham's chest when the second
delay came only four minutes
before she was to become exe
cuted. 'Cruel Punishment
Brown, a frequent critic of the
administration of capital punish
ment in California, said defense
maneuvers which delayed Mrs.
Graham's execution for 94 min
utes constituted "the last of a
series of cases in which cruel
and unusual punishment was in
flicted" on a condemned slayer.
"The way the death penalty
has been administered in this
state during the past two years
is a disgrace to the administra
tion of justice," Brown said.
The attorney general said that
if the death penalty is to be used
in California he favors adoption
of the British system in which
capital punishment cases must
be disposed of within 60 to 90
days.
"The only effectiveness of cap
ital punishment is when the pun
ishment of the court is adminis
tered quickly and dispassion
ately" he said.
Unless the state adopts the
British system, Brown said, he
recommended sentences of life
imprisonment without possibil
ity of parole to replace capital
punishment and "increase the
dignity of the state."
Meanwhile, the bodies of San
to and Perkins remained un
claimed but the remains of the
attractive Mrs. Graham were
taken by an agent of her last
husband.
The trio of killers died Fri
day in the gas chamber after an
agonizing last -minute attempt
to save them.
Authorities said the bodies of
Jack Santo and Emmett Perk

"Mountain Murder Mob" would
be cremated at the Napa State
hospital. The two killers died

Over the years there has come into being what
amounts virtually to a special Cadillac vocabulary.
Certain words and phrases have so long and so
often been used in association with Cadillac that they
almost automatically call the car to mind.
When the talk is of motor cars, who can hear the
word "prestige" without thinking of Cadillac?
It likewise true of "distinction" ... of "luxury'
. . . of "pride of ownership" . . . of "satisfaction" ... of
"comfort" ... of "long life and dependability" ... of
"beauty" . . . of "impressiveness". . . of "value" and
of dozens of other words used to denote superiority.
In a sense, these are Cadillac words and they
actually sound strange when employed in any other
connection. Even when used in the promotion of
another automobile, they still suggest the "car of cars".
Naturally, words like these can become inseparable
only from a product which deserves them. In the
ocabulary
case of Cadillac, it has taken half a century of the
strictest adherence to the highest automotive stand
ards to win this public approval.
Eternal vigilance is the price of this reputation.
Most oeoole. of course, realize that these wonderful
words apply to Cadillac. But too many have not yet
personally iound out why.
If you are among these come in and see us today.
We will give you the keys to a new 1955 Cadillac
and you'll know in a single hour why Cadillac has
its own vocabulary.
You'll know, from personal experience, that when
you speak of "prestige" and "distinction" and
"luxury" and "pride of possession" and "value"
you are speaking of the Standard of the World.
We have the keys and the car and a real wel
come waiting for you. -,
