Three Men Killed,
Ten Injured as
Building Collapses
Dallas, Tex. (U.R) Rescue
workers freed a painfully in
jured worker today from the
rubble of a collapsed building
where three persons had been
killed and nine others injured.
The workers began searching
for more bodies after pulling
Lloyd Cornet from a spot where
he had been trapped for more
than six hours.
The three-story limestone
building collapsed with a roar
late Wednesday after the rush
of traffic had subsided.
Power Lines Broken
It crumbled into a bar and
grill and music store and spewed
chunks of debris across the
street, breaking overhead power
' lines.
The building was located in
downtown Dallas on Elm St., one
of the city's three main thor
oughfares. Three persons in the bar and
grill were killed. Seven others
were brought out alive but two
were injured critically and doc
tors said one was not expected
to live.
Only the owner and a custo
mer were in the music store.
Neither was seriously hurt.
But more than 200 firemen
and volunteer rescue workers
dug for six hours to free Cornet.
He was pinned by his left leg
next to a juke box, which he
said saved his life, irt the bar
and grill. Dr. Bernard Weiner,
risked his life to administer
sedatives to the trapped man.
Noil of Tornado
Alvis Bailey Simmons, 40:
William E. Kirby, 42, and. Lu
ther Gonzales, 32, were dead on
arrival at the hospital.
One-hundred and fifty persons
were next door In the Fox bur
lesque theater when the build
ing came down.
They felt the impact of the
collapse, but did not panic.
Chester Tate, 53, ticket taker at
the Fox, saw the building come
down. He said it fell without
warning and "with the noise of
a tornado." He went into the
theater and cleared the patrons
out. ' ' '

Paris Protestants
Back Evangelist
Billy Graham
Paris (U.R) Protestants of
all sects joined together for the
first time in French history to
day to back Billy Graham's initi
al evangelistic crusade in a pre
dominantly Roman Catholic
country. '
Protest leaders declared Gra
ham's visit represented the first
massive attempt at cracking
French "indifference" to the
Protestant faith.
Five-Day Seriei
The American preacher ar
rived by train irom Nice Wednes
day night. He will start a five
day series of meetings Sunday
at the huge Palais Des Sports.
Graham will . be the first
Anglo-Saxon evangelist to preach
at a large - scale Paris revival
in three decades. The last one to
appear was the late Evangeline
Booth of the Salvation Army who
preached here some 30 years ago.
The North Carolina evange
list, who recently completed
successful crusades in Scotland
and London, was greeted by
some 200 persons who sang
hymns in French as he stepped
smiling off the train Wednesday
night.
Greeted' by Weil-Wishers
"I can't tell you all how very
happy I am to be in Paris,"
Graham said as well - wishers
surged around the train door to
greet him. At his side were his
wife and a secretary.
Graham called for a moment
of silence and then said quietly:
"May God bless our stay here."
American Protestant leaders
in France joined their French
brethren in welcoming Graham
to Paris.

Retirement of
Molotov Rumored
London (U.R) The Lon
don News Chronicle today re
ported widespread rumors in
Belgrade, Yugoslavia, of the im
pending retirement of Soviet
Foreign Minister V. M. Molo
tov and his replacement by a
virtual unknown.
A dispatch from the newspa
per's Belgrade correspondent
said the rumors had it that Mol
otov would be succeeded by D.
T. Shepilov, chief editor of the
Soviet Communist paper Pravda,
rather than by Deputy Foreign
Minister Andrei Gromyko.
Shepilov accompanied Soviet
Communist Boss Nikita S- Kru
shchev and Soviet Premier Nik
olai Bulganin on the Kremlin's
"forget .and forgive" mission to
Yugoslavia. Shepilov's inclusion
in the delegation caused "some
surprise" since Pravda sent two
of its star correspondents to cov
er the talks, the Chronicle's cor
respondent said:
"Now, if the rumors are con
firmed, Shepilov's inclusion is
explained this is a grooming
for the new post that awaits
him," the dispatch said.
The Chronicle said the reports
give Molotov's age he is 67
and failing health as the reasons
for his retirement.
