Graduation Thursday
Applegate The Applegate
eighth grade graduation exer
cises will be held Thursday, May
26, at 8 p.m. in the Applegate
school gymnasium. The guest
speaker will be Dr. Arthur
Kreisman of Southern Oregon
college.
J. Robert Tolle, chairman of
the school board, will award
the diplomas to the following
graduates: Joyce Bourland, Julia
Brown, Donald Davidson, Tru
man Elmore, Miriam Gapin,
Marvin Gibson, Roger Hanson,
James Lampert, Douglas Mc
Kay, Leo Pearson, Jerry Row
den, Lorene Stephenson, and
Leorane Teske.
There will be music by the
Applegate school chorus and
band.
YOUNGSTER KILLED
Portland U.R) Multnomah
county outside of Portland re
corded its fifth traffic death of
1955 today. Allen Lowell Brown,
8, was struck and killed by a car
. near his home late yesterday.
Police said he apparently ran
into the street into the path of
the vehicle.
Measles Again Lead
List of Diseases
Forty-two cases of measles
topped the list of 72 cases of j
communicable disease listed
with the county health depart-:
ment last week.
Other illnesses include 13
cases of influenza, four each of j
chicken pox and german mea- j
sles, three each of strep throat j
and pneumonia, two of mumps j
and one of rheumatic fever.
Meat Packers To Hear
Details of Pilot Plan
Southern Oregon Meat Pack
ers association will meet Friday,
May 27, at 7:30 p.m., in the
Jackson hotel, when a repre
sentative of the state agriculture
department will be there to dis
cuss the meat inspection pilot
bill recently passed by the state
legislature.
The dinner meeting will be at
tended by representatives from
about 14 packers from Jackson,
Klamath, Josephine and Douglas
counties.
How the pilot program will
be administered will be the
topic of the meeting.
