Pretty girls, pretty dresses, corsages, dance programs, boys
In their tailored finery with a flower for the lapel of their jackets
all this adds up to Prom night. Pictured here are Miss Nancy

Committee chairmen and class officers finished decorating in time to enjoy
a few calm moments before the dance, and pictured here are four students
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hawkins, 517 North Barneburg road. Pre
paring to leave for the Prom are (left to right) Jerry Gatlin, junior representa
tive; Miss Pat Crofoot, dance chairman, Mike Hawkins, vice-president of the
junior class and Miss Donna Halvorsen.

body. Queen's throne was simulated candy box filled
with foil-wrapped bon bons. Little Jackie Crofoot car
ried the crown, made from carnations and fancy French

One wall of the gymnasium where the dance was Jield was covered with
a "Candyland" mural with huge ice cream cones, big' candy canes and ice
cream mountains. Junior classmen worked after school and evenings and shown
here in the midst of painting are (left to right) Miss Lorita Jennings, Miss Betty
Jamieson and Mis Carol Ballard.
The Prom
Most exciting social event of the
year for a school is "the prom" and
today The Medford Mail Tribune pre
sents a picture story of the 1955 Junior-Senior
Prom, held May 14 at the
Medford High school. "Candyland''
was the theme, and Miss Norma
Granger was crowned queen.

One big job for the men of the junior class was to build the "candy box"
which held the queen's throne. Pictured here are (at left). Al Boardman, who
with Pat Crofoot was co-chairman in charge of the dance, and Gary Shaffer,
class president, covering the "lid" of the box with paper. Lid was completed
with a huge bow of satin and net. .

Most thrilling moment of the entire evening was entrance of the queen and her court, since identity of the
queen is kept secret until 10 o'clock. Pictured here are Queen Norma and her princesses (left to right) the Misses
Pat Crofoot, Patty Read, Lenora Kyker, Crown Bearer Jackie Crofoot, Kathy Guiley, Donna Halvorsen, Shirley
Kenner and Barbara Johnson.. Bouquets presented to the queen and her court were of carnations centered with
tiny roses and edged with the French lollipops. The queen's evening gown was of pale green net.
Between dances the students sought out the refreshment table or gathered at small tables which held boxes
of stick candy, quickly emptied. At one table the photographer found (left to right) Miss Donna Mallans, Morris
Smith, Jim Martolin and Miss Rosie Johnson. A candyland forest was created with branches of manzanita
sprayed with lavender and pink paint and from the twigs hung pieces of real candy and make-believe gum
drops made from colored paper. Misses Carol Denman and Janet Perry were chairmen of decorations.
