Three Washington Teachers
Honored at PTA Reception
Kenneth A. Hulburt, principal
of Washington school, as well as
Roy Gilbertson and Mrs. Leona
Crane of the teaching staff were
hortor guests at a reception giv
en by Washington Parent Teach
er association at the school gym
nasium last Friday evening.
Mr. Hulburt will leave Wash
ington school to be principal of
the new Jefferson grade school
next year, Mr. Gilbertson will
become principal of Lincoln
chool and Mrs. Crane is retir
ing from the teaching profession
after 25 years of teaching.

ed three numbers. Vonja Ray
and Tamara Wright did a tap
dance, a -ballet dance Was per
formed by Barbara June Van
Brundt, Carol Krause, Linda
Wilkes, Betty Lou Hatch, Lona
Taylor, and a song and dance
act was presented by Darcy
Johnson and Randy Baker. Ar
rangements for the program
were made by Mrs. Jensen and
Mrs. Roy Wilkes.
Following the program, re
freshments were served, with
Mrs. Ralph Matthews and Mrs.
John Hartsook pouring. Floral
decorations were provided by a
committee of teachers, whose
chairman was Mrs. Larison.
Room mothers from the 23 rooms
at the school provided the
cakes.
Other members on the com-ftion in Salem, gave their re
mittee for the reception were

Eagle Point PTA
Installs Officers
At Last Session
Eagle Point Installation of
officers was held at the last
meeting of Eagle Point Parent
Teacher association, with Mrs.
Lewis Dusenberry, Trail, as in
stalling officer. Mrs. Dusenberry
is junior vice-president of Jack
son County Council of Parent
Teacher associations.
Installed were Mrs. Dale Ack
erman, president; Mrs. John
Huffman, vice-president; Mrs.
Otis Hill, secretary and Mrs.
Don Pulley, treasurer.
The meeting opened with the
flag presentation by Camp Fire
Girls of Mrs. Frank Elrod's
group. White City, and Mrs. G.
Lee Hayes' group, Eagle Point.
The girls also displayed some of
their handiwork and explained
their Indian Camp Fire names
and their methods of earning
awards.
Mrs. Ray Palm, president, an
nounced that achievement night
would be held by the Eagle
Point schools Wednesday, May
18, and that a food sale would
be held that night.
Mrs. Dale Ackerman, histor
ian, displayed the PTA scrap
book with a cover of wood im
printed with the name of tho or
ganization. The group gave a
vote of thanks to Ray Palm, who.
made the cover.
Mrs. Herbert Perdue and Mrs.
Ackerman, delegates from Eagle
Poinf PTA to the state conven-
ports. A film entitled "Crusade
Against Cancer" was presented
by Miss Dorothy Huskey and
Charles Clark for the American
Cancer society. The room count
for the May meeting was won by
Mrs. Hazel Atkins' room.

report on the recent convention
of Oregon Congress of Parent
Teacher associations will be the
order of business at the meeting
of Lincoln Parent - Teacher as
sociation to be held Wednesday,
May 11, at 8 p.m.'
Mrs. Roland Holmes, presi
dent of the Medford Council of
P-TA will be installing officer.
; Mrs. Kenneth Bremhall will give
the report of tne convention.
Officers to be installed are
Mrs. Kenneth Bramhall, presi
dent; John Webber, vice - presi
dent, and Mrs. Bernice Viles,
Secretary. Eric de Place will be
installed treasurer.
The band and orchestra will
play several selections after the
close of the business session.
Friday, May 13, the pre-school
clinic will be held at the school
gym, starting at 1 p.m., under
the chairmanship of Mrs. Hugh
Shellabarger. All children in
Lincoln district, and in Kenwood
district who will start school
in September are invited to at
tend. After the examinations by
the doctor and dentist, the chil
dren will tour the first grade
rooms. i
Howard Extension Unit
To Meet in Church Hall
Howard Extension unit will
meet at Harmony hall in the
Friends' church Thursday, May
12. Mrs. Verle Walker and Mrs.
Robert Ottoman will give the
lesson on "Simple Home Re
pairs." Child care will be provided at
the home of Mrs. Malcolm Mc
Carty and each mother is asked
to take a toy and sack lunch for
her child. .

Hold Installation
At Country Club
Mrs. Will Robertson was in
stalled president of the Medford
Jaycettes last Wednesday eve
ning during ceremonies at Rogue
Valley Country club. Mrs.
Charles Shepherd also read the
induction ceremonies to Mrs.
Dick Bowers, vice - president;
Mrs. J. D. Smith, secretary; Mrs.
Walt Smith, treasurer; and Mrs.
Robertson, member-at-large.

piano music during the dinner
hour. Vocal selections were pre
sented by the Medford High
school boys' quintet, composed
of David Moore, Macy Over
street, Rodney Hammer, Jim
Hobbs and Larry Clark, and
Mrs. Vern Collins also sang, ac
companied by Miss Gott. (

office cancelled delivery to the
McClung home after the dog bit
two mailmen.

More' than 200 attended the
annual mother-daughter banquet
given by women of First Metho
dist church last Thursday eve
ning at the church. Hawaii pro
vided the theme for the menu,
decorations and entertainment.
Orchids were presented to Mrs.
Wayne Hunter for being the
youngest mother present and to
Mrs. Cora Carder for being the
oldest mother in attendance.
Mrs. Carder, 88 years old, is the
only living ch rter member of
First Methodist church and has
been a member of . the congre
gation for 70 years. .
Three mothers tied . for the
honor of having the largest num
ber of daughters present. They
were - Mrs.- John Kent, Mrs.
James Moerder and Mrs. Ray
mond Balcomb, each with little
daughters.
Mrs. R. H. Denning was toast
mistress, Mrs. Harold White gave
the welcome to daughters and
Miss Mary Kay White the re
sponse. : .
Leis were presented to every
one attending and the program
included a hula dance by' a
group of men and ukelele num
bers by Ed Haas.

siderable damage to the home of
Fred Jensen. Jensen wrapped an
electric bulb in cloth when he
went to bed and put the lighted
bulb at his feet. During the
night, the bulb aparently broke
and started a fire.
