Committee Plans
4 Meetings Yearly

County Chamber of Commerce
discussing the committees ol
the chamber, their jobs and
their chairmen. They are pub
lished in the hope that they
will lead to a wider under
standing of the functions of
the chamber.)
The sponsorship of at least
four forum meetings general
discussion sessions each year
is the aim of the forum commit
tee of the Jackson County Cham
ber of Commerce.
The most recent was one on
taxation, at which State Sen. Lee
Ohmart, Salem, was the speak
er. Others are manned soon.
Chairman of this year's forum
committee is Ray Johnson, man
aeer of radio station KMED. who
was appointed in January by
John Pletsch, president of tne
chamber.
He has been a resident of Med
lord for several years, and his
activities have included the Ki
wanis club, of which he is a di
rector this year; membership on
the committee for Boy Scout
Troop 2 sponsored by the KI
wanis club; co-chairman of the
chamber's Greeters committee;
membership on the old Medford
Plan, and other civic jobs includ
ing the Kiwanis public relations
committee.
Johnson is now vice-chairman
of the chamber membership com
mittee, and last year was a co-
chairman of the Monday round-
table session of the chamber.
Chamber of Commerce
Men To Talk To Council
Frank J. Van Dyke and Ron
Gandee, both members of the
board of directors of the Jack
son County Chamber of Com
merce, will speak at a meeting
of the Medford Central Labor
council at 8 p.m. today in the
Labor temple.
They expect to discuss the
function and purpose of cham
bers of commerce, pointing out
that while they are essentially
businessmen's organizations, they
have as their objective the com
munity welfare.

headache. The coffee six quarts
of it was in a steel urn that
fell off a 15-foot hydraulic lift
and hit him on the head.
