day traded catcher Smokey
Burgess, right-handed pitcher
Steve Ridzik and outfielder
Stan Palys to the Cincinnati
Redlegs for catcher Andy
Seminick and outfielder! Jim
Greengrass and Glen Gorbous.
It was a straight player deal
with no cash involved.
The key players in the deal
were Burgess and Greengrass,
whom the Phils sought as a
much needed long ball hitter.
In getting a second outfielder,
young Gorbous, the Phils had
to provide an outfielder to the
Redlegs and thus sent along
Palys. a rookie in his first

Glen Gorbous, traded to the

WEIMARANER LITTER NOMINATED The Weimaraner litter
above reportedly is the first to be nominated from the Rogue river
valley for the breed's field futurity. Breeder of the litter was Mrs.
Frank Catalano, route 2, boa 214A, Central Point. Proud mother
of the fiye-weeks old pups is Catalanos Mia, soon to be groomed
for field trial work. One of her sons, who will be named Catalano's
Veldt Koenig, will be taken to the Weimaraner national field trial
in the midwest in 1956. He will try for the purse to be awarded
to the best futurity nominee. Weimaraners are known for dual
ability and' the futurity contestants -will have to prove ability on
both water and land. The futurity is the breeders' proving ground.
Many fine dogs from all over the country will be entered. Sire
of the pups is Catalano's Durk, owned by T. J. Hight, Medford.
Durk has just completed three months of field trial training. .
