Family Returns
From California
Mr. and Mrs. John Dellenback,
143 South Keeneway drive, re
turned Monday from a 10-day
trip to California. They were
accompanied by their sons, Rich
ard and David. En route south
they visited an aunt of Mr. Del
lenback who lives at Carmel,
and at Los Angeles they were
with his brother, Lt. Cmdr. Rob
ert J. Dellenback, and Mrs. Del
lenback. He is a member of the
Navy staff at the North Ameri
can aviation offices there.
At La Jolla, Calif., they visit
ed his mother, Mrs.. William Del
lenback. HARD OF HEARING
Detroit (U.R) Police said to
day they believed the owner of a
500 pound cast iron bell found
In an alley must be a hard-of-hearing
truck driver. The bell,
complete with clapper, apparent
ly fell from a truck when it hit
a rut in the alley.

Meet Monday Night

at the home of Mrs. Margaret

avenue.
Mrs. Kathleen Alling'ham,
Medford, president, conducted a
business meeting and study hour.

ing the hostess served refresh,
ments.
Club to See Film
Saturday Evening
Jacksonville A film, "Ameri
ca for Me," will be shown by
Conger-Morris staff members at
a meeeting of the Jacksonville
Presbyterian church 20 - 80 club
Saturday evening, after the
group has met at 6:30 p.m. at the
church rooms for a potluck din
ner. All members are invited to
take friends to both the dinner
and the program.

For Festival
Dr. G. Burton Wood, head of
agriculture economics at Oregon
State college, will be the main
speaker for the Jackson County
Homemaker' festival to be held
at Central Point Grange hall
Thursday, May 5. His topic will
be "Your Dollars and Cents."
Miss Mary Routh, new cloth
ing specialist of Oregon State
college, will be the representa
tive from the college.
C. M. Ferguson, administrator
of the federal extension service,
has announced that the tenth
National Home Demonstration
week will be observed through
out the nation May 1-7. Jackson
county extension units will par
ticipate by holding their annual
Homemakers' Festival during
that week.
Exhibits of work completed by
the members of the units will be
on display in Central Point Le
gion hall during the festival. En
tertainment provided by exten
sion unit members will include
skits, a trio, songs and a pantomime.
The festival opens with regis
tration at 9:30. The program
will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will
continue until about 3 p.m.
Chicago (UR) The Anti
Cruelty Society will present
mailman Raymond Collins with
a "kindness award" for saving
a dog. Collins has been bitten by
dogs five times.

League to Hear
Mrs. Dunlop Talk
On Education.
Mrs. Betty Lou Dunlop will
be the speaker at the annual
meeting of the Leagut of Wom
en Voter's luncheon, Saturday,
April 30, at 12:30 p.m., in the
Medford hotel.
Mrs. Dunlop, an instructor at
Southern Oregon college and a
recently announced winner of
the $1500 graduate fellowship
awarded triennially by the Ore
gon branch, American Associa
tion of University Women, will
present the six phases of educa
tion which are to be considered
at a series of conferences on the
local, state and national level to
culminate in the White House
conference in late fall of this
year.
At this meeting, election of
officers will be held and reports
will be given by the chairmen of
the various committees that have
carried out the years activity
program.
In May the last general meet
ing of the year will be held, fol
lowing the state League conven
tion in Eugene.

auditorium. Britian Ash will be
in charge of the program which
will start at 7:30 p.m., Instead
of the usual time. Anyone inter
ested in this program is invited
to attend. Governor Patterson
has proclaimed the week of May
1 to May 7 as Soil Conservation
Week, and Mr. Ash will have a
program to feature soil conserva
tion. Ted Fredenburg and Mr. and
Mrs. Elga Abbott are on the
serving committee. All Grange
members are urged to attend.
Phoenix Grange
Members of Phoenix Grange
will sponsor a square dance at
the Grange hall Saturday, April
30. Dancing will begin at 8:30
p.m. and Doug Fosbury will call.

wiches or pastry for a potluck..

Social Events ,
n Rogue River
Rogue River A number of
social events are planned by stu
dents of Rogue River High
school for the month of May.
The annual junior-senior ban
quet and prom will be held in
the Rogue River High school
gymnasium Friday, May 6,
Gary Stinchcomb, senior class
president, has announced.
The prom wiU'follow the ban
quet, which will start at 7 p.m.
Paul Powell's band will furnish
music for the dance. Decorations
will follow a French theme.
Saturday night, May 7, the
junior and senior classes will
sponsor a formal dance open to
the public in the high school
gymnasium to give parents an
opportunity to see decorations
used for the annual junior-senior
event. .
The annual Mother - Daughter
Tea, sponsored by Rogue River
High school Future Homemakers
association, will be held at the
school gymnasium Tuesday, May
10, between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
Entertainment will be fur
nished, and clothes made by Fu
ture Homemakers will be model
ed. Food served the tea will be
made by members of the home
economics class. Table arrange
ments by four classes will be
judged. -
Mrs. Atha LeRow is advisor
for the Future Homemakers, who
have invited mothers of all high
school students to attend.
Central Point Unit
Elects Officers;
Tickets on Sale
Central Point Officers were
elected at the last meeting of
Central Point Extension unit.
Mrs, Arthur Straus was named
unit chairman; Mrs. Arnold Boh
nert, vice-chairman; Mrs. Earl
Sands, secretary and Mrs. Paul
Snook, treasurer.
"Living Within 24 Hours" was
the project presented by Miss
Eula Wintermote, county exten
sion agent. Miss Jean Shipman,
senior in home economics at Ore
gon State college, was a guest.
The unit voted to furnish child
care for the children of the Cen
tral Point unit during the Home
makers' festival May 5. Those
wishing to may leave their chil
dren with Mrs. Jones on Laurel
street.
It was announced that festival
luncheon tickets are available
until April 30 by calling NOr
mandy 4-1154.
,The project, "Simple Home
Repairs" will be presented by
the leaders, Mrs. W. Davis and
Mrs. D. Lacy, May 18 for the
monthly meeting of the unit.
Women attending are asked to
take two small blocks of wood,
a hammer and a screwdriver.

Parent-Son Banquet Set at Central Point

ture class, will be held Thurs
day night, May 5, starting at
6:30 p.m.

Future .Farmers of America at
Crater High school, said a pro
gram will be arranged by the vo
cational agriculture class. Leon
ard Kunzman is advisor for the
group.
