Opens Shop George Arm
strong, who was associated for
38 years with Young's Service
shop, has opened a new business,
Armstrong's garage, 122 Janney
lane. The business includes
wheel alignments and balancing,
brakes and motor tune-up. The
shop was opened April 15.

that Peggy Darlene Drinkwater,

ed a head injury Friday after

Mary Irene Drinkwater, of the

was taken to a doctor for exam

Budget Meeting Jackson
county rural school district
budgets will not be completed
until after Monday when the
budget, committee is scheduled
to meet, County School Superin
tendent A. B. Mekvold reported
yesterday. The meeting will
convene at 1:30 p. m. at the
school superintendent's office.
He said there are adjustments
to make in receipt schedules and
the actual amount to be levied
must be determined.

Sgt. N. U. McMahan, of the
Marine Corps, has been in Med
ford on a furlough visiting his
wife and daughter and his moth
er. Sergeant McMahan, who is a

at Camp Pendleton, Calif., for
the past year. He has been trans
ferred to Camp Pickell Mea
dows, Bridgeport, Calif.
FOUR MEN INDUCTED
Four young men were inducted
into the Army through the Port
land recruiting and' induction
station last week, according to
Local Board 17,'Jackson county,
of the selective7 service system.
They were Lloyd Thomas
Ferns, George Allan Goodman
and Ivan Lee Cramer, all Med
ford, and Willie Roscoe Hargitt,
Reedsport, formerly of Rogue
River.

GRACE KINYON
Funeral services for Mrs.
Grace Swingle Kinyon, 70, of
60s Yama st, Yreka, Calif., who
died in Medford Thursday, will
be held at 2 p.m. Monday at thv
Perl Funeral Home chapel with
Dr. D. Kirkland West of the
Presnyterian church officiating.
Committal will be in Phoenix
cemetery.
Mrs. Kinyon was born in Dud
leyviile, Ariz., February 8, 1885.
Survivors include her hus
band, Jesse; one daughter, Mrs.
Eleanor McPherson, Vashon,
Wash ; three sons, Ralph and
Charles Swingle, Medford,' and
Cecil Swingle, Lakeview.
Otlier survivors are six broth
ers, Frank Acton, Oklahoma
City, Okla., George, Clifton,
Ariz., Ray Acton, Tucson, Ariz.,
Sidney, Vallejo, Calif., and
Mann of Los Angeles; two sis
ters. Mrs. Rose Lasster, Gallup,
N. M , and Mrs. Anna Swingle,
Phoenix, Ariz.; and four grand
sons, three granddaughters and
two great granddaughters.

Services for Frank Lohrenz,
65, who died Friday, will be
held in Camp White chapel
Tuesday at 9 a.m. with Chaplain
Henry W. Anderson officiating.
Interment will be in Camp
White VA cemetery. Conger
Morris funeral home is in
charge of funeral arrangements.
The deceased was born Nov.
3, 1889, in Paxton, Minn., and
was a veteran of World War I,
serving from May 27, 1918, to
July 22, 1919, as a private in
the 107th Guard company.
Survivors include a sister,
Mrs. Herman Rambow, Chat
taroy, Wash.
Construction Slated 1
On Big Sheathing Plant
Dallas U.R) Construction is
slated to begin here soon on a
$1,000,000 sheathing plant by
the , Willamette Valley Lumber
Company.
The plant will employ between
140 and 150 men and will have
a capacity of about 6,000,000
square feet of unsanded plywood.
It is scheduled to be in opera
tion by Labor Day, William E.
Swindell, president of the com
pany, announced.

The dinner, served buffet
style will be partial potluck,
according to Mrs. W. G. Werner,
foods chairman. Acceptable
dishes to be contributed will be
salads, scalloped white potatoes
or candied sweet potatoes or
some other suitable side dish
in quantities to serve 10 people.
The main portion of the meal
and dinner service will be fur
nished by the committee, Mrs.
Werner said.
