For Deckhands

Highway Commission has turn
ed down a request of the As
toria Navigation Company for
reimbursement of back pay for
three deckhands of the Astoria
Megler ferries.
The Coast Guard ordered two
more pilots added to the ferries
and eliminated the requirement
for three deckhands. The naviga
tion company let the deckhands
go but later had to rehire them
after losing a court suit.
The commission in other ac
tions: Set May 24 as date for a hear
ing in Sheridan on the proposed
Sheridan by-pass.

in drinking water. For domestic ani

taken in food, notably sea fish and
