Family Swimming
Instruction Class
Slated at YMCA
A family swimming instruc
tion program will start at the
Medford YMCA starting this
week, it was announced by Dr.
William'H. Roberts, chairman of
the "Y" aquatics program.
The classes are open to chil
dren over 6 years of age who
are accompanied by one or both
parents who cannot swim. Adults
may register for the course, even
if their children can swim, Dr.
Roberts said, although the course
is designed primarily for entire
families.
Monday and Friday
The classes will be held Mon
day and Friday evenings begin
ning at 7 p. m. The first one
will be Friday, April 15.( Don

or, will conduct the classes with
Dr. Roberts assisting. Those in
terested are urged to register
as soon as possible, he said, by
calling the YMCA.
It was pointed out that the
local "Y" has been conducting
one of the outstanding swimming
programs in the Pacific north
west. Last year 738 beginners
were taught how to swim here,
and during the last three months
of 1954 the organization here
led all other "Y" chapters in Ore
gon and Washington in the num
ber of aquatic tests completed by
student swimmers. The Medford
total was 1,469 tests passed.
Second was the Seattle YMCA
with 1,100.
San Francisco C of C
Men Set Visit Here
A group of , members of the
San Francisco Chamber of Com
merce will visit here later this
month, it was reported Saturday.
They belong to the domestic
trade committee of the Bay City
chamber.
They will arrive here by air at
11:05 a.m. on April 28, and will
visit Grants Pass. On the 29th
they will return to Medford and
Ashland, returning that evening.
