To Conduct Series
The congregation of the Zion
Lutheran church, corner of
Fourth st. and Oakdale ave., will
celebrate Easter with a series of
special services, the first one
at 6 a.m.
The early service and the later
service at 11 a.m., will be iden
tical services. Pastor G. H. Hil-
lerman's sermon topic will be
titled, "Attested Power." The
choir will sing, "Break Forth
into Joy," by Barnby, and Mrs.
Margaret Blaar will be soloist,
singing "Art Thou the Christ."
The Intermediate Luther
league will attend the early serv
ice in a group and then have
breakfast together at th.e C. C.
Slessler home.
Sunday school, with a special
program, will begin at the usual
hour, 9:45 a.m., in the church.
The final service of the day
will be the service of Hory com
munion at 12:15 p.m.

At Phoenix Church
Phoenix Members of the
Phoenix Presbyterian church
will participate in Easter sun
rise services at 6 a.m., which
are sponsored by the Phoenix
Ministerial association. They al
so will observe Easter at the
church Sunday in all services.
A program will be conducted in
the Sunday school when each
class will present a five-minute
contribution for the program.
Members who have Easter lil
ies are asked to take them to the
church for use as decorations
during the services.
At the 11 a.m. service the
choir will furnish music and the
pastor, the Rev. Otis Swisher,
will speak on, "Christ Is Risen
Today."
A nursery will be provided
for small children.
The youth. group will meet at
7 p.m., at the home of- Elizabeth
Premann.
Several meetings are sched
uled for the week, including
one for the men's organization
at 6:30 p.m., Monday when a pot
luck dinner will be served. Sun
day school teachers will meet
that day at 7:30 p.m.
The girls' handicraft class
will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m., at
the church and that afternoon at
1 p.m., the women's organiza
tion executive committee plan a
meeting at the Owens home.
The Bible study and prayer
group plan a session at the Keith
home Wednesday, at 9:30 a.m.
That same day at 7 p.m., the
choir will practice and the boys
handicraft class will meet at the
church. On Sunday evening at
7:30 p.m., a communion service
will be held, also at the church.

Story" will be hown, climaxing
the day with the story of the
Resurrection.

Investment Program
Eagle Point A spring in
vestment program will be pre
sented by the young people of
the Eagle Point Seventh Day
Adventists c h u r ch Saturday,
April 9 at 10 a.m., in the Eagle
Point Grange hall.
Individuals and groups repre
senting 16 different families in
the area are participating in an
investment for missions program.
Pledges have been made in
chase and from the returns of
projects conducted by the in
dividuals or groups. These in
clude proceeds from milk sales,
original paintings sold, garden
produce sales and other means.
Easter Musical
To Be Presented
The" Sanctuary choir of the
Church of the Nazarene will
present Sunday at 7:30 p.m., the
Easter musical entitled, "Peter
and the Resurrection." In addi
tion to the choir, included is a
narrator and a film strip in full
color. The musical selections are
varied, including words by Tes
chner, Stebbins, Bach, Pales
trina, and Faure.
Mrs. Ethel Kornstad, organ
ist, will present an organ pre
lude of Easter music prior to
evening program. As a part of
the prelude, a mixed quartet,
with Mrs. Donna Goble as solo
ist, will sing Rodney's "Cal
vary." The choir will present
an arrangement by Wilson of a
familiar hymn, "Hallelujah!
What a Saviour."
In the worship hour at 10:50
a.m. the choir will sing a ver
sion of the song, "Were You
There?" A soprano obligato will
be sung by 'Mrs. Dorothy Rees.
Ed Taylor, minister of music,
will sing Knapp's, "Open the
Gates of the Temple." The Rev.
R. W. Hum will speak on the
theme, "An Appointment in the
hereafter."
Easier Story
In the Sunday school hour at
9:45 a.m. ample time will be
available for a thorough discus
sion of the Easter story. The
teaching staff of the Medford
Church of the Nazarene will be
honored at the various classes.
Missionary To Speak
In Valley Churches
Guest speaker at the Temple
Baptist church, 794 Lozier lane,
Monday evening at 7:30 p.m.,
April 11, will be Dr. John
Thomas, Baptist Missionary to
South America. Dr. Thomas is a
native Briton, working with the
Foreign mission board oi" the
Southern Baptist convention.
Examples of his work will be
illustrated with colored motion
pictures and elides. Dr. and Mrs.
Thomas will return soon to their
field of service.
Dr. Thomas is appearing in
Medford as the guest of the Sis
kiyou association of Baptist
churches and will speak Monday
to the members and friends of
the Calvary Baptist church, Ash
land, First Baptist church, Phoe
nix, and the Bethel Baptist
church, Medford, as well as the

Sunrise Service Set
At Community Church
Central Point Members and
friends of the Community Bible
church in Central Point will
gather Sunday at 6:30 a.m. for an
annual Sunrise communion ser
vice.' Sunday school will be at the
regular iime of 9:45 a.m. An in
vitation is extended to visitors.
The pastor, Rolf H. Hansen, will
bring the Easter message at the
11 o'clock worship service. At
the service new members will be
welcomed into the church fel
lowship and infants will be dedi
cated. The Easter program presented
by the Sunday school will be at
7:45 p.m. A pageant entitled,
"The Glory of the Cross' will be
presented by the Junior and Sen
ior departments. The nursery
and primary departments will
present recitations and vocal se
lections. The public is invited.
The Sunday School buses will be
on regular routes Sunday eve
ning before and after the pro
gram. The church choir' presented a
program of Easter anthems last

To Present Cantata
The cantata entitled, "The
Seven Last Words of Christ,'
will be presented Sunday eve
ning ' at the First Christian
church, 209 South Oakdale ave.
The Easter concert soloists' will
be Mrs. Terest Matlack, soprano,
H. S. Daniels, baritone, and Mar
mie Olson, tenor.
Two services are scheduled
Sunday morning at the church.
The first service will be at 8:30
a.m., and the other at 11 a.m.
Bible school will be held at 9:45
a.m
The sermon subject, "The Bat
tle Over the Empty Tomb," will
be augmented by a woman's
double quartet singing, "The
Easter Song," and an anthem by
the choir.
