Hollywood (U.R) After a

This time, she

Marie wore on the "My Friend

On her new program, "Marie
Pepperdine," she will play a
model who works in low-cut
glamorous dresses.
"They have to let me wear
those gowns now," said Marie.
She was sitting in her home
and wearing, as usual, a pink
and blue outfit, foot-long real
eyelashes and a breathless voice
that talks in short sentences.
TV Boxoffice
"They've found out that it

Irma show they wouldn't let me
turn sideways.

those beautiful gowns on "The

United Press Correspondent
producer, 'Well, how about it'?"
After "My Friend Irma" van
ished from TV, she said, viewers
wrote loyal letters to CBS. Ru
mors floated around Hollywood
and Vine that the program died
of a disease known here as a
low rating. But Marie insisted,
with mild indignation, that the
program merely had sponsor
trouble.
"Our sponsor decided not to
plug his cigarette any more,"
she said. "Rather than get an
other sponsor, CBS decided to
start out with a brand new idea.
I agreed. It's better for me. Be
sides, the original people who
started 'Irma' had left the pro
gram and the original flavor
was gone. I'm what's left.
"It would have been bad if I
had left the show with a low rat
ing. But actually the rating was
high. That show made more
money than any other program
at CBS."
Training Tour
Marie got in training for un
veiling her new personality by
recently touring the nightclub
circuit. She did a modified strip
tease. One critic lamented Miss
Wilson didn't do much in her act,
but apparently she didn't have
to. Marie outdrew even Tony
Martin at the Flamingo hotel in
Las Vegas by merely standing on
the stage in black lace under
wear. "If you have on a bathing
suit, you know its a bathing
suit," is her philosophy. "Lin
gerie seems more interesting.
"My husband didn't want me
to do that act at first," she con
fided. "He didn't think it would
be dignified. You know hus
bands ..."
For her new TV show Marie
will keep one "Irma" quality.
When I asked her what she'd be
like on TV next fall, she replied
with a cheerful smile, "Dumb."
