Two-Eyelet Shoes
Draw Attention
Of Little Boys
Teen-agers used to ape grown
up shoe styles. Now the same
goes for little boys. Just as they
have adopted slacks, waistcoats
and jackets that are miniatures
of the grown-ups, so they want
their shoes styled as nearly as
possible like the old man's.
Two-eyelet, bluchers captured
the fancy of the men a couple
of seasons ago. Now they are
the hot news for small boys.
Masculine detailing and shoes
that are light and flexible are
in line with the trend. And the
low top a bi style feature.
Two-Eyelet Oxford
Very mannish, hence very ap
pealing are such shoes as a two
eyelet oxford in a soft grain
leather with brown smooth
leather outlining the tapered
moccasin camp and topline. The
grain effect is also new looking
on an amber tone two-eyelet Ox
ford with a bit of dash in brass
eyelets and brown mud-guard
velting with gold nailheads.
This for a boy who likes a bit of
paprika with his casual clothes.
Another plain toe grain leather
two-eyelet in toast brown has
white stitching around the welt
ing of the sole for a-touch of
contrast.
Even moccasin styles for
sturdy everyday wear have
picked up the two-eyelet theme,
as witness one on a crepe rubber
sole in reddish brown shrunken
grain. This emphasizes the two
eyelet fastening with a ghillie
tie effect with lighter brown
leather lacing.
In addition to the moccasin
twe-eyelets there are lots of
other styles copied from the
men. The wing tip is now being
shown for little boys. The U
wing, a very big men's fashion,
is catching on with the small
fry'- There are a few straight
tips, although these don't seem
to be so much in demand. But a
bit of interest in the plain vamp,
especially in the lowline two
eyelet style. In the plain toe,
brushed leathers in white or
blue seem to be very much
liked, also cordovan colored
smooth leather, especially with
crepe soles.

greys and pale panama leathers
as fashion notes along with the
more regulation tans, browns,
blue, black and white.
Smoke and camel shades also
are important in boys' sandals
which now repeat meticulously
the styling which has made
men's sandals popular country
and weekend shoe styles. The
tassal moccasin, another steal
from the men, has also crept in
to the small boys' field in a lim
ited way. Here it's considered
more or less of a dress shoe,
best in black or brown.
The gored tieless slipon
soft and flexible easy-on, easy
off has its admirers, in the
young set, particularly in glove
leathers with foam crepe soles.

Shimmer and Sheen Make Party
Shoes Prettiest Since Cinderella
February Bond Sales Total Down From 1954
Moonlight, starlight, shimmer
and sheen, that's the story of
spring and summer party shoes.
Nothing so pretty since Cinder
ella and these can go on
dancing after twelve o'clock!
The delicate pearlized leath
ers come in a wide range of pas
tel colors, with first honors ap
parently going to the ever pop
ular pink, to delicate mauve and
pale aqua. Other popular choices
include the ice blues, greens and
yellows, and white that glows
like a pearl.
There there are the pastel rep
tiles. And gold and silver snakes
that are like molten metal.
These, the slippers that can be
worn with black, white and
every cocktail and evening color.
As a matter of fact the pastel
tones are almost equally adapt
able, looking smart and pretty
with dark and light alike.
The favorite shoe of the mo
ment is the highheeled sandal,
backless or with slim halter,
with open toe, plain draped or
pleated vamp and usually a
touch of ornament in jewel,
buckle or bow.
Not so new, but still popular
is the strip sandal, a mesh of
metallic bands, very nude in ef
fect, and smartest when worn
with one of the new evening
stockings which is sheer as a
whisper and reflects the tint of
the shoe.
Since resort and evening fash
ions have much in common, these
dance shoes will certainly show
up with informal warm weather
dresses of linens, printed cottons
and sheers as well as more form
al party wear.
BEACH SLIPPERS New under
the sun are polka dot terry beach
slippers and their matching wash
able tote bag. (By Oomphies).
Of late, the, green shoe has
been largely noticeable by its
obsence. The mint and emerald
green just didn't seem to fit the
picture and red took over.
However, a soft and subtle
green, introduced several sea
sons ago under the name of
avocado (because it's the color
of an avocado pear, naturally)
has by sheer merit risen to be
a fashion color for spring.
Although somewhat exotic, it
has an amazing faculty ior go
ing with lots of things in very
pleasant harmony.
It can be worn nicely with
grey, beige or black in the spring
suit range. Here avocado in ani
line, polished calf or reptile is
the thing, in town pumps or
sandals.
For dressier wear, in supple
gleaming kidskin, it's wonder
ful in open sandal treatments
with many of the new prints
and silks. Perhaps the fact that
avocado green is a feature of
many of the smartest spring
print patterns has enhanced the
Smart Tanners Give
New 'Fabric, Look'
It's the new switch! We've
in shoes for quite some time,
had fabrics acting like leathers
But who would have thought
that smart tanners would toss
the ball back by reproducing
fabric designs and textures on
some of their finest leathers.
Polka dots, stripes, plaids,
flower patterns are reproduced
with amazing clarity on smooth
leathers by the new silk screen
process. You can almost feel the
texture of a tweed, a linen, a
shantung.
Some of these exotic leathers
are in the party feeling. Shoes
for cocktail or dinner wear, to
add that certain touch to the
costume. Take for instance a
high heeled, open toed sling of
black leather, with matching
bag, sparkled all over with
white stars. Even the high spike
heel wears its star decoration.
Stripes and polka dots are
other popular patterns, both for
casual and dress wear. Or you
may have a sandal in .softly
muted plaid you touch it to
find that it doesn't have the
feel of fabric!
A new trick, and a smart one
to add to the most exciting
spring and summer shoe fash
ions we've had in years.
interest in the green shoe.
True, not everybody wants a
green shoe. But this spring more
women will wear them because
of the adaptability of this , spe
cial sort of custom-made color.
