Set Today
By Couple
Mr. and Mrs. Thomai Dale
Hanna are entertaining today
at open house from 2 to 6 p.m.
at their, new home at 102 Port
land avenue. Friends of the cou
ple are invited to call during
those hours.
The couple's wedding was an
event of February 23. Mrs.
Hannah is the former Miss
Frances Elizabeth Price, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
N. Price, 2702 Buckshot road.
The bridegroom is a son of
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Hannah, Eagle
Point.
The ceremony was read at
2:15 o'clock in the afternoon by
the Rev. Ellmore J. Gilstrap,
pastor of the Central Church
of Christ, at his home at 702
West Fourth street.
Miss Edith Price, a sister of
the bride, was her honor at
tendant and E. J. Hannah of
Eagle Point, served as best man
for his brother.
The bride wore a pink silk
afternoon dress and her flowers
were pink hyacinths. Her sister
wore a blue taffeta dress and
her flowers were white carna
tions. Only members of the families
of both the bride and bride
groom attended the rites.
Both the bride and bride
groom have lived in the area
their entire lives. The bride
attended Lone Pine grade school
and Medford Senior high school.
She is an operator for the Pac
ific Telephone and Telegraph
company. The bridegroom at
tended Eagle Point High school
and is employed at White City.

members when they met Wed
nesday at the home of Mrs.
Ralph Hixson, Old Stage road.
Mrs. James Cornutt furnished
the arrangement.
The meeting was devoted
mainly to a corsage workshop.
Mrs. John Wisely was the in
structor and dessert was served
by the hostess assisted by Mrs.
R. D. Kay and Mrs. A. T. Lath
rop. Mrs. Wally Day, Mrs. Cora
True and Mrs. W. D. Jackson
were guests.
Prizes were won by Mrs. C.
W. Anhorn and Mrs. Kay. j

Rebekahs to Hold
Friendship Night
Olive Rebekah lodge mem
bers planned a Friendship night,
to be held at their first meeting
in May, during a session Monday
evening. All Rebekah lodges of
the district will be invited to
the observance.
Also decided at the recent
meeting was the purchase of a
$50 bond for the Odd Fellows
home.
Other plans include initiation
for the first meeting in April,
and a card party for April 30.
Men of the group will have
charge of the entertainment for
the meeting to be held March
21, with W. H. Dwyer as chair
man. Mrs. Riley Applegate, chair
man for the good of the order,
gave a history of Schuyler Col
fax in his memory. She also
gave a resume of the history
of Olive Rebekah lodge which
was organized March 14, 1887.
The obligation was given by
Mrs. J. l). brummond, vice-
grand.
Refreshments were served by
Mrs. Homer Vinzant, Mrs. Lee
Garris, Mrs. Rozella Theesfeld,
Mrs. J. A. Thomasson and Mrs.
John Daniel.
The March 21 committee will
be made up of Mrs. Lewis
Thompson, Mrs. Mabel Grigsby,
Mrs. Annie Gorby, Mrs. Helen
Gillmore and Mrs. Margaret
Erskine.
Mrs. Frank Chapman, noble
grand, presided.

Show Committee
Rogue River A nominating
committee and committees for a
flower show set for April 16
were named at a meeting of
Laurel Garden club March 2.
The session was held at the civic
improvement club room with
Mrs. Bill White as the hostess.
Mrs. Claude Willoughby and
Mrs. Jerusha Moore were the co
hostesses. The nominating committee is
made up of Mrs. White, Mrs.
Herb Brooks and Mrs. Andrew
Guff in.
The flower show will be spon
sored jointly by the Rogue River
Garden club, Evans Valley club
and the Laurel club. Mrs. White
and Mrs. Shade Combs are in
charge of entries; Mrs. Walter
Kasworm, Mrs. Dudley Fabric,
Mrs. Doris Demary and Mrs.
Sophia Thieson, placements; Mrs.
Gus Ruehling, Misses Greta and
Louise Simeson and Mrs. Leora
Mitchel, tea table; Mrs. Anna
Clasick and Mrs. Isa Forsyth,
plant sale; Mrs. Moore and Mrs.
Claud Willoughby, potted plants
and junior display; and Mrs.
Guffin, guest book.
The horticulture display con
sisted of heather violets, prim
roses, anemones, geraniums and
begonias.
A dessert luncheon was served
to 20 members and Mrs. Charles
Babcock, president, presided for
the business meeting.
The next meeting will be April
5 at the home of Mrs. Henry
Bonney with Mrs. Guffin end

meeting of Dis
trict 4, Oregon State Nurses'
association, held Tuesday in the
Community penthouse.
They spoke of the newer dis
coveries in the care of patients,
particularly in brain and chest
surgery, and also in the care
of infants and children.
Miss Florence Woodward and
Mrs. Nellie Laing presented a
paper on anesthesia bringing out
the importance of the related
nursing care for patients before
and after surgery. The various
agents used for anesthesia were
discussed.
The erouD agreed to furnish
sneakers for any county school
which requests this for voca
tional dav programs. Mrs. Mar
tha Donahue will speak March
23 at Phoenix and Talent on
"Nursing as a Career."
The scholarship committee re
ported that letters had gone
to all the county high schools
telling of the scholarship that
will be available to one senior
girl in Jackson county. Students
are asked to write a letter tell
ing of their interest in nursing
A card party is planned for Ap
ril at St. Mark's Guild haU to
help finance this project.

at the Home Appliance store
in Medford.

Announces Study
Woman's Society of Christian
Service of First Methodist
church will begin a mission
study of India, Pakistan and
Cevlon at a meeting set for
March 16 at 10 a.m. in Room
102 of the church. The primary
text to be used by the class is
"Under Three Flags" by Ste
phen Neill and the leader will
be Mrs. Vern Wilson.
The Woman's society has com
nleted three study classes this

Group Attends
Recent Banquet
Mrs. Don Anderson, junior
vice-president of the department
of Oregon, United Spanish War
Veterans, Auxiliary, Mrs. Eliza
beth Johnston, Mrs. James Cech,
president of Colonel Sargent
auxiliary, and Mr. Cech all Med
ford, attended a banquet and
meeting of the Rogue River aux
iliary in Grants Pass March 6.
The banquet and meeting
were held in honor of Mr .and
Mri. Frank Pendergrass and
Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Gullickson,
Portland. Mrs. Pendergrass is
department president and Mr.
Gullickson is department com
mander. The two were making
their official visit to Grants
Pass. During the meeting Mrs.
Cech served as musician in the
obsence of Mrs. Renne Grosh.
Mrs. Cech states that the local
auxiliary will hold its regular
meeting Sunday March 20 at
Redman hall. The meeting will
be preceded by a potluck dinner
with Mrs. Frank Widner and a
committee in charge.
Plans will be made for a re
ception and banquet to be held
April 17 in honor of Mr. and
Mrs. Pendergrass and Mr. and
Mrs. Gullickson when they
made their official visit to the
Medford camp and auxiliary.
Final plans for the anual carna
tion sale to be held May 6 and 7
will also be discussed, Mrs. Cech
states.

VFW Auxiliary Announce Party In Shady Cove
Shady Cove Plans for a "fun
party" Saturday, March 19,
were made at the last meeting
of the auxiliary to Steelhead
post, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The party will be at VFW hall
and Mrs. Jim Hopkins, chair
man, asks members to attend
and take a friend.
Mrs. Jim Cassal reported on
the "turn-about party" at the
Camp White domiciliary. Mrs.
Frank Busch, president, receiv
ed a certificate of appreciation
for the- auxiliary. Three
hundred-hour certificates were
issued to Mrs. Cassal, and Mrs.
Harry Birch, and 100-hour cer
tificates to Mrs. John Jones and
Jim Cassal of the post.
Mrs. Cassal announced the
next visitation to Camp White
March 11.
The auxiliary voted to donate
to the Camp White flower fund
and the prize fund for the hobby
fair.
A "traveling basket" has been
started and those receiving it
reported on the way it was
brought to them, and the inter
esting articles it contained.
Mrs. Harry Birch reported on
the radio series "Man and the
Moment" which is boadcast on
KMED Wednesday at 6:15 p.m.

Mrs. Louella Smart and Mrs.
Leo Turtle.
Next meeting of the post and
auxiliary will be March 18 at
8 p.m. at VFW hall, Shady Cove.
