L. Hcncirix, missionaries from
Argentina, will speak Sunday
fit 2:30 p.m. in a Southern Ore
gon missionary convention for
the Church of the Nazarene at
the Medford Church, Holly and
First sts.
Trie Rev. Hendrix recently ar
rived in this country for his sec
ond furlough. During the period
of his stay in the United States,
he will teach at the Nazarene
Theological seminary in Kan
sa5 City, Mo., and do deputation
work under the direction of the
department of foreign missions
of the church.
Leaving for the field in 1941,
the Rev. Mr. Hendrix, after
language study, assumed pas
tcrial and evangelistic work in
Buenos Aires. Recently he has
also served as director of the
Nazarene Bible school in the
same city.
He is a graduate of Bethany
Feniel college at Bethany, Okla.,
where he received his training
in theology.
Mrs. Hendrix has taught in
the public schools in Oklahoma
and has done evangelistic work.

dent of the Oregon-Pacific Naz
arene Foreign Mission society,
Mrs. H. E. Priddy, of Portland,
and the Rev. and Mrs. W. D.
McGraw Jr., also of Portland.

for next Sunday at 3 p. m., in
the congregation's temporary lo
cation at 122 North Riverside
ave., according to the minister,
Thomas White.
The Philadelphia church is a
part of a Full Gospel fellowship
consisting of churches through
out this country, Canada and
other countries.
Services will continue each
Sunday at 3 p. m., and 7:45 p. m.,
and Fridays at 7:45 p. m. The
public is iavited.
'Words' Series Topic
Announced for Sunday
"Understanding" will be the
sermon topic of the Rev. Thomas
McCamant at the Congregational
church on Oakwood dr. Sun
day at the 11 a.m. service. The
sermon was requested by two
members of the congregation
to be included in the series on
"Words."
The two following sermons in
this series will be on "Grace"
and "Prayer."
The past week was a busy
one at the Congregational
church with full participation
in the National Christian Teach
ing mission. People who indi-
ated a Congregational back
ground or preference in the re
ligious census are invited to
next Sunday's services. Con
siderable work has been done
on the church's new Sunday
school building, now nearing
completion.

Saturday marks the close of
the week-long series of nightly
meetings centered around the
theme "In Quest of the Best."
The Sabbath church service will
be devoted exclusively to the
young people. At that time a
baptismal class will be formed
for those who want to prepare
for church membership by addi
tional Bible study.
In reporting his plans for a
baptismal class Pastor E. F. Coy
explained that in Seventh Day
Adventist practice a young per
son in not a church member,
even though his parents are, un
til he has studied the beliefs of
the church and has developed a
mature concept of the meaning
of church membership.
A strong program of Christian
development is carried on by
the church for its young people,
the pastor said. About three
thousand missionary volunteer
societies in North America help
steer the thinking and activities
of the youth into positive chan
nels. For . junior age children
the church conducts Pathfinder
clubs, similar to Boy Scouts,
with weekly programs and sum
mer training camps.
