the Organized Trailer Home
Owners of Jackson and Jose
phine counties, spoke to a meet
ing of the group at the Valley
Center Trailer court here last
week end.
He discussed the proposed
tax reduction bill supported by
the trailer owners, explaining
the procedures it would have to
go through before it could come
before the legislature. He sug
gested that members write to
their state representatives, urg
ing them to do what they can to
persuade the rules committee to
approve consideration and intro
duction of the bill.
New Membert
Raymond Neves, Roseburg,
secretary-treasurer of the state
organization, attended the meet
ing, and several new members
joined. A large attendance was
reported.
Two local unions in Medford
have offered help regarding the
tax bill, which would equalize
assessments of trailers, it was re
ported, and several others have
asked for reports of the meeting
and copies of the proposed bill.

The marriage was made pos
sible when Livingston flew to
Acapulco, Mexico and obtained
a Mexican "quickie divorce"
from his wife, Elaine. Mrs. Liv
ingston was awarded a Calif-
ma decree recently but it is not
final for a year.
Miss Hutton divorced her sec
ond husband, dance director
Charles O'Curran, in Las Vegas
earlier this year.

Willing knocked on the door of
the Soviet Embassy recently to
talk about bathing beauties.
"They' couldn't have been
nicer to me, dear fellow," he
said, fluttering his hands in ex
citement. "They a s'k ed me what I
wanted. I told them I was hand
ling the Miss World beauty con
test and I wanted to invite Rus
sia to send a girl to represent
them this year."
Now Major Neville Willing is
what is crudely termed a press
agent. And the Russian diplo
matic mission on a quiet street
off Hyde Park is not exactly the
most benign climate for any
westerner.
There are usually long waits
and the caller tires of noting
that the portraits of Malenkov
have been replaced by those of
the more durable Lenin.
Not so with Major Neville
Willing. '
When he arrived there was a
whispered conference. It was de
cided that beauty contests came
under the heading, "culture,"
and the greying, sprightly major
was ushered into the office of
the cultural attache.
"Charming fellow," Willing
recalled. "Really most pleasant.
I told him what I wanted. He
listened intently. Then he said:
"Of course, in Russia we have
the most beautiful girls in the
world."
The attache's tone, said the
major, did not admit of dispute.

tional beauty contest?
Willing gleefully rubbed his
hands.
"They asked me how long
their girl would be needed if
she came," he said. "How often
she would have to wear a bath
ing suit and how and by whom
the judging would be conducted,
"That sounds like they'll par
ticipate, doesn't it? They must
have some one whiz-o in mind.
Yes, someone absolutely smash
ing." The major closed his eyes as
though already seeing Miss Col
lective Farm of 1955 step out
before the judges in her bath
ing suit.
A red bathing suit, of course.
WRONG HOTEL

fined $15 and costs for drunken
ness when he tried to register at
a "hotel" in the early hours of
the morning. Lyon discovered
the "hotel" was the central po
lice headquarters.

signed in 1945, two months be
fore the first atom bomb was
dropped on Hiroshima. "Since
then we have lived a thousand
