Sanitation Committee Sets
First Meeting Wednesday
The first meeting of a newly-
formed committee on sanitation
will be held Wednesday evening
in the offices of the Jackson
County Health department in
the courthouse at 8 o'clock ac
cording to Robert Hart, county
sanitarian, and officers of the
Jackson County Public Health
association.
This committee, formed to
include representatives from
nearly every section of the
county, has been organized by
the health association in an ef
fort to obtain detailed informa
tion on various methods which
might be employed to solve a

Square Dancing Set
By Public Schools
A free workshop In square
dancing, couple dances, mixers
and rhythms will be held the
afternoons and evenings of
March 14 and 15 at the Medford
junior high school gymnasium,
it was announced today. The
four sessions will be conducted
by Ed Durlacher under the
sponsorship of the public schools.
The sessions will be open to
physical educators, music teach
ers, and all recreation activity
leaders. The programs will con
sist of teaching by the use of the
simplified recorded method of
instruction, live teaching, live
calling, programing, and music.
Durlacher, who has been fea
tured in various leading maga
zines, and has appeared on top
television and radio shows, is
among the leading exponents of
conducting square dancing for
novices. At the present time, he
is writing a book entitled "The
Factual History of American
Square Dancing."

four sessions may be obtained
from Lee Ragsdale, supervisor
of health and physical education
for the Medford public schools.

Gets Gifts, Grants
Portland (U.R) The State
Board of Higher Education to
day accepted gifts and grants to

Largest was $19,800 from the
Life Insurance Medical Research
Fund, New York, for research
at the University of Oregon
medical school on use of plasma
proteins in cerebral vascular
disease.
The Agricultural Research
Foundation, through the Oregon
Commission, Pendleton, made
available $7000 to aid in con
struction of research buildings
at the Pendleton experiment
station.
The board also approved pro
motion of J. R. Dilworth from
associate professor to professor
and head of the department of
forest management at Oregon
