listless, but am

strength and

but needs that
little every
day. Likewise
his horse, his
cow, his wife,
his sheep, his
pig, his dog,
his cat and his canary.
The doctor advised my hus
band to take (a medicinal dose)
of iodin a day to perk him up.
He said it is good for most peo
ple past 40. Do you think pure
cod liver oil every day would
help rheumatism or arthritis?

Only under a doctor's obser
vation should one take iodin in
medicinal doses. When I say
everybody needs a daily ration
of iodin I mean only the minute
quantity of iodin one might get
in sea fish or shellfish if one's
diet included substantial propor
tions of these foods every day.
As a matter of fact , straight
cod liver oil, two ounces (about
4 tablespoonfuls) a day was for
merly one of the best remedies
for the rheumatiz, and in my
opinion still is. Pure cod liver
oil is a rich source of vitamin
A, vitamin D and iodin.
Make up your mind about it,
Ma'am. Have you joint inflam
mation (arthritis) or joint degen
eration (rheumatiz)? If it is arth
ritis the only suggestion I can of
fer is that you follow your doc
tor's advice and pay no attention
to what any blithering quack
says in the papers. If you can't
make up your mind what ails
you, send me a stamped, self-addressed
envelope for the pamph
let Calcium and Rheumatiz. If
you're curious about the mean
ing of degeneration look up the
medical definition of the word
in Webtser's.
