Three PEO Chapters
Schedule Meetings
Three PEO chapters will meet
this week.
Chapter CP will meet Wednes
day, March 2, at the home of
Mrs. J. P. Tobin, 147 Highland
drive. Mrs. V. H. Wilson will as
sist the hostess and luncheon
will be served at 1 p.m.
Chapter BE will hold its reg
ular meeting Tuesday, March 1,
at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. L.
C. Taylor, Phoenix. Election of
officers is planned.
DAV Auxiliary
Executive Session
Scheduled Today
Disabled American Veteran's
auxiliary will hold a state execu
tive meeting today in the Rogue
Room of the Medford hotel. The
business session will begin at 11
a.m. ; and luncheon will be
served at 12 noon.
A visit to the Camp White
domiciliary is scheduled for the
afternoon.
The auxiliary to Jackson
County Unit 8 met for a social
hour February 22 at the DAV
hall. Mrs. J. P. Graham, Ameri
canism chairman, prepared and
read an article on George Wash
ington. Several members told
stories they had heard from
their grandparents concerning
Abraham Lincoln, the civil war,
and frontier days.
Cherry pie and coffee were
served to auxiliary and chapter
members.
The sewing club of the Dis
abled American Veterans' auxil
iary, will meet Thursday, March
3, at 11 a.m., at the home of Mrs.
Norman Neathammer. A potluck
dinner will be served at noon.

At Dinner Sunday
Over 30 members of Colonel
Sargent camp and auxiliary,
United Spanish War Veterans,
jattended. a dinner and meetings
last Sunday afternoon at Red
man hall. Mrs. Frank Widner
and C. E. MacCollister were pre
sented with a birthday cake

An invitation was read from
Rogue River auxiliary to attend
a meeting at the VFW hall in
Grants Pass March 6. Dinner
will be served at 1 p.m. Mrs.
Frank Pendergrass of Portland,
department president of Oregon,
will make her official visit to the
Rogue River auxiliary at that
time. - .
Mrs, Winifred Vail was ap
pointed chairman of the annual
carnation sales committee i by
the Medford auxiliary president,
Mrs. James Cech, and plans for
the .forthcoming sale were dis
cussed ; during the meeting.

Has Program on
Patriots7 Lives
Information concerning the
lives of Washington and Lincoln
was furnished by Mistletoe club
members when they answered
roll call at a meeting held last
week in the Girls Community
club.
Mrs. Floyd Bewley said that
her husband's grandfather had
hired Mr. Lincoln as a lawyer
and the family has kept the
check endorsed by Lincoln.
Mrs. Blanche Arnold explained
that Mr. Lincoln was offered the
position of governor of Oregon
if he would move here but his
wife objected because the west
was too rugged and wild. Mrs.
M. Mallory gave a reading on
Washington's life. ,
Mrs. Louis . Bashaw rejoined
the club after moving back to
Medford recently from Bandon.
Visitors included Mrs.' Sherman
Browning and Mrs. Milton Mor
rison. Mrs. Ed Lovell reported on a
public card party which will be
held Monday, February 28, at
8 p.m. Canasta and pinochle will
be played.
Mrs. Harvey Rowden an
nounced that . a rummage sale
will be held March 4 and 5 by
the group and that donations
from the members should be at
106 North Ivy st., Thursday
afternoon. y
