No Dividends Paid

Cassville, Mo. (U.R) There
was no dividend for stockhold
ers, but the operators of the
Cassville & Exeter Railroad said
they didn't mind.
- There's something about run
ning a . railroad that stirs the
imagination of man even when
it's only a 4.8 mile one.
"We're keeping a couple of
jumps ahead of the sheriff," said
Fielding P. Sizer, president of
the C. & E. "It's fun. Not every
man has the opportunity to be
running a railroad, you know."
. The C. & E. labors upgrade
from Cassville to Exeter to pick
up whatever , freight has been
dropped off at Exeter, Mo., by
the big Frisco. The Frisco gives
its rejected ties to the C. & E.,
which has not been shy about
norfmtinS' them.
"We're not proud," Sizer said.
The C. & E. got a real break
when it came upon James Ash
ley. He is the road's manager
and a former short-line operator
from Vermont. Furthermore, his
wife, Olive, has served as brake
man, switchman, and general as
sistant on many runs to Exeter.

'Perfect Husband'
Makes Wife Angry
Parents are likely to side with
their married children against
their in-laws, and this makes for
trouble in a family.
(Q) "I have been married
for seven years io a man who
is a good worker, provides
well for me and our children,
and doesn't drink, smoke, or
go around with other women.
My parents are always telling
me how, lucky I am and prais
ing my husband to the skies
- in front , of him, especially
when their friends are around.
This makes me a bit angry
ai times ; because they don't
know the whole story.
"My husband is a good
provider, I 'admit ihal. but I
have to fuss and beg to get a
cent out of him. He is very
f stingy and is always complain
ing about the money I spend.
Then, too, he is faithful but he
is insanely jealous of me. Ev
ery time I go out with one of
my girl friends, he accuses me
of meeting some man instead.
This usually leads to a quar
rel and he calls me dreadful
names. Should I tell my par
ents the other, side of the pic
ture? I am often tempted to
when they paint him in such
glowing colors.
(A) I strongly urge you to re
sist the temptation. I am sure
your parents realize that you
have your
troubles, just
as all other
married
people do. But
in their eyes
your husband's
good features
outweigh his
bad ones, and
they are de
lighted that
you have mar
ried a man
they can feel pp. d of .
Should you tell them about
your husband's stinginess, jeal
ousies, and name - calling, I am
sure it would be a great shock
to them. And, because they have
always admired him, it might
make them turn against him
so strongly that a hostile feeling
would develop.
This would make things very
unpleasant for you and the
children, for ,your husband
would bitterly resent your car
rying tales to your parents. Keep
your personal affairs to yourself
as you have in the past and
things will be better for all con
