Camp White Bridge fans of
Camp White and the valley may
play both 'Friday and Saturday
nights of this week at camp if
they choose. -

regular weekly play, with mas
ter points to be awarded. Sat
urday night the club, with the
assistance of Medford Duplicate
Bridge club and Riverside Dupli
cate Bridge club, will sponsor
the annual Braille tournament
to raise funds for the visually
handicapped of Jackson county.
Saturday's event is set for 8
p.m. and various types of card
games will be played in addition
to bridge.

of Camp Fire Girls held a March
of Dimes coffee hour yesterday
afternoon in conjunction with
the monthly leaders' meeting.
Several new leaders and board
members were welcomed into
the association.
Mrs. Bill Lurrian is new chair
man for the awards committee
and assisting Mrs. Luman will
be Mrs. Milton Medcalf and Mrs.
Lloyd Roberts. Mrs. J. Gray will
head awards committee for

member of the special training

The Braille tournament com
mittee will sponsor "a television
program Thursday, February 3,
demonstrating some of the-appliances
used by the blind and
visually handicapped of Jack
son County. The program will
be on at 6:10 p.m. .
George W. Rode, television
publicity", chairman for the tour
nament, is in charge of the pro
gram. - He will appear with Mrs.
Chris Zink, "a volunteer worker
with the Oregon State-Commission
for . the Blind," : Mrs.. Susie
McDonald and John " Ragsdale,
both visually handicapped!
A" Braille typewriter will be
demonstrated by Mrs. -McDonald,
and Mr. Ragsdale will "tell
of his experiences in running a
'rural paper and .mail route with
his wife out of Eagle Point.
A talking book machine, with
records, will: also . beVshown in
ah effort to demonstrate to the
public the-need' for these appli
ances and the necessity of sup
porting the Braille tournament.
The proceeds' ofo this tourna
ment are -turned over in their
entirety, to the' Grey . Ladies of
the Red Cross,' who, in conjunc
tion with Mrs. Zink, administer
the blind program of Jackson
County. - '
The proceeds of the tourna
ment this year; will be devoted
to an effort, to find employment
channels for the physically able
but visually . handicapped - of
Jackson county. , .
Mr. Rode further pointed out
that the people in charge of the
blind program are also helping
those visually handicapped to
the legal extent. That is, the le
gal definition of blindness is 20
over 200 and those having that
vision can distinguish objects,
but-are still considered legally
blind, r
The tournament will take
place Saturday, February 5 at
7:30 o'clock at Camp White.
