Local 7-140. . .;
Plaintiffs are the officers of
the Firchau Logging Co. near

Evans Products to cease ' doing
business with the Firchau Log
ging Co.
Report of Enemy
Bombs in US Denied
Washington XU.PJ The White
House last night emphatically
denied reports that "enemy"
atomic bombs had been found in
Washington and New York.
Presidential press secretary
James C. Hagerty issued the de
nial after being informed that
reports were to be printed in the
Midwest that A-bombs were
found here and in New York and
that Civil Defense Administra
tor Val Peterson had ordered a
nation-wide alert.
The reports are not true, Hag
erty said. He said no such A
bombs or devices have been
found and no such nation-wide
alert has been ordered.' " -

Mothers March Set
By Several Areas
Several- Mothers' Marches on
polio have been scheduled in the
county Monday night, a check
showed today. All marches will
be held from. 7 to 8 p.m. Vn
Towns reporting plans for the
March of Dimes activity are
Medford, Eagle Point, Ashland,
Jacksonville and- Central Point.
During the hour mothers will
call at homes where a lighted
porch ligh of a candle in a win
dow extends an invitation to
stop for a contribution to the
March of Dimes.
Mrs. Lew s Miles, Medford
chairman, said that in past years
there have been a few incidents
where unqualified persons call
ed to collect the contributions.
Mrs. Miles said that each quali
fied worker is provided with a
scroll, which may serve as iden
tification. 3
At Eagle Point, five cars will
cover the city and a radius of
two miles outside the city limits.
Territory to be included are
Nick Young rd.f Long Mountain
rd., Crater Lake hwy. to Dodge
Bridge rd., Brownboro rd. and
Eagle Heights. Following the
drive, Eagle Point workers will
be guests at a social hour at the
home of Mrs. Hoyl Jordan.

the treatment of victims oi dog
bite or other wounds inflicted
by animal or bird is a matter of
opinion and not a matter of fact.
Still, any physician or health
officer who cares to give a con
trary opinion or advice may do
so in this column and I promise
to reveal or withhold his or her
name as he or she may prefer.
Last Wednesday I cited the
conclusions reached by Drs.
George A. Dennison and J. D.
Bowling of Birmingham, Ala.,
from their experience as health
administrators. They . concluded
that in what has been called the
"rabies capital of North America":
"1. Rabies is primarily a veterin
ary problem. Regardless of its
prevalence among dogs, it will
. probably never cause suffi
cient morbidity or ; mortality
among human beings in this
region to allow its classifies
, tion as a public health prob
lem of importance." -'
Probably no other, physicians
or health authorities in the coun
try are better qualified to tell
the truth about rabies than these
Birmingham authorities.
.. Dr. T. F. Sellers, head of the
Georgia Health Department said
in American Journal of Tropical
Medicine for May, '48, that after
thirty years of practical experi
ence it was his belief that anti-
rabic vaccine is not harmless
and that it has caused more
deaths than has rabies when giv
en to persons only indirectly or
remotely exposed.; Dr. Sellers
said that administration of anti-
rabic vaccine to persons actually
bitten or scratched by the teeth
of known or suspectedly rabid
animals is justifiable, in. that the
danger of the. disease (rabies) is
far greater than any 111 effects
from the vaccine. But for ex
posures other than actual ' bites,
said Dr. Sellers, the-; danger of
treatment complications far ex
ceeds that of either rabies or
rabiphobia. He ; was convinced
that it is not hydrophobia but
rather rabiphobia which consti
tutes the major and more trou
blesome problem for the prac
ticing' physician and health offi
cer. :
Rabiphobia means unreason
able or insane dread or fear of
rabies.

Answer If it took less than six
months to lose 67 pounds perhaps your
lack of will power is due to nutri

regular met witn an optional daily
ration of vitamins and minerals. I tell
how to do this in the pamphlet HOW
TO LOSS WEIGHT, for which send
