Around Hollywood
Hollywood (U.R) Televis
ion comedy serials are . biting
the dust this season. But' Mitzi
Green": has
been . brought
out of semi-retirement
for
another new
series that , she
thinks will last
because it has
the biggest set
on TV. - "
' The ex-child
star was busy
wit h her
.Aline Motor
fourth baby at home and pre
paring another nightclub tour
when NBC paged her for "So
This Is Hollywood."
I The series concerns a movie
stunt girl, Mitzi,. and a pretty
extra, played, by Virginia Gib
son, and their adventures on the
side-streets and backlots of the
plaster city. ; This gives the
series an excuse to use the most
supercolossal settings ' on TV
the real-life Hollywood5 com
munity. 4 -Cover
the Town
"We just won't, be setting
around a living room for 23
episodes," said the actress, now
34. "We can go all over town or
around our own studio for ex
teriors. It gives the show a big
scope.".
Producer Ed Beloin agrees
many another TV comedy, . in
cluding "Willy" and "That's My
Boy," - died partly because the
plots couldn't afford to get away
from the same chintz living room
couch. "I Love Lucy," to avoid
this way to viewer boredom,
finally is getting the Ricardos
and Mertzes out of their apart
ment house to travel cross-country
to Hollywood via "process"
scenes. -'
But Mitzi and the rest of the
cast, at 'no big cost, can simply
move into real-life Hollywood
drug-stores, drive-in?, nightclubs,
theaters'!- and other local land
marks. LEGAL NOTICES

Third Career ;-'.' -. "... :
The program marks the third
career for blonde Mitzi. She
was a screen great until 12, on
the stage and in vaudeviUe for
another ten years, and a night
club star until she temporarily
quit two years ago to liave an
other baby. ' .'.. .-. -;
"I love the TV series because
I carl say home with my family
instead of going on tour," she
said.
"The show is fun-r-except I do
my own stunts! So far I've fallen
off a rock, jumped over a wagon,
leaped intocold water and been
bit over . the head."
-: "So This Is Hollywood" got
off to a good start with the
critics and ratings last Saturday,
but in two weeks the fledgling
program will go through fire.
It will be pitted .opposite the
second half of the popular Jackie
Gleason show. But producer
Beloin has a gimmick to lure
viewers. : .
"We open the show with a
teaser to try to get viewers in
trigued with the story,"-he said.
"Unfortunately, Gleason - starts
his 'Honeymooners' sketch at 20
minutes after the hour which
makes it hard for people to turn
to another show in 10 minutes.
A diabolical trick!"
