Holy Communion
Service To Open
Yule Observances
Traditional Christmas services
at St. Mark's Episcopal church
will begin with a festal choral
celebration of holy communion
beginning .at 11 p.m. on Christ
mas eve with the church dec
orated with everygreens, poin
settias, and candles, the service
will include a short Christmas
meditation by the rector and
selected Nativity music by St.
Mark's Senior choir, under the
direction of Charles Bird, with
Verl O. Failing at the organ.
In addition to Christmas
hs'mns, the music will include
the anthems, "Bohemian Carol,'
"There Were" Shepherds," and
organ selections. The Rev. Rob
ert L. Greene, vicar of the
Church of the Good Shepherd
at Prospect, will assist the rector
jn the administration of the holy
racrament. This service will be
broadcast over radio station-
KYJC through the kindness of
Courtesy Chevrolet, and will
thus be audible through radio
to any overflow of worshippers
accommodated in the adjoining
hall.
Christmas Day
The. Christmas eucharist will
be celebrated again Christmas
day at.10 a.m. .with meditation
by the rector-and organ ac
companiment by Verl O. Fail
ing. The choir will not sing at
this service; Organ selections
will include ."The Christmas Pre
lude," "Panis Angelicus," "Echo
of Spring," and "Bethlehem."
Services on Sunday, St.
Stephen's day, will include holy
communion at 8 a.m. and a serv
ice of worship and ' Christmas
carols at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
M. N. Greene delivering the
sermon. St. John's day and Holy
Innocents day will be reserved
for private services with the
sick and shut-in.
The rector will conduct the
opening devotions from KBES
TV. at 3:40 p.m. on Christmas
Eve and 3:20 p.m. . . ..
Christmas Program
Staged Wednesday
A Christmas program was
presented at the Temple Bap
tist church, 794 Lozier lane, last
"Wednesday evening. The church
was decorated with boughs of
Green and holly, with large pine
cones scattered among them.
There was a Christmas tree with
decorations and lights. ' These
were backed up with a fireplace
screen with stockings hanging
from the mantle, reminiscent of
home life of long ago.
Every department of the Sun
day school had a part in the
presentation of the Christmas
program. The Young People
furnished the tree and did the
decorating. The Beginner, Pri
mary, Junior, and Intermediate
departments presented the pro
gram. Adults furnished treats
for all the youngsters and the
W.M.U. prepared them.
Following the program of the
departments the church present
ed the pastor, Floyd Yeats, and
his family, with a 57-piece set of
ehinaware. Children were given
treats of candy, nuts, and fruit

Orphanage in Korea

Mrs. H. Miracle, senior Dorcas
leader of the Seventh-day Ad
ventist church in Medford, re
ports that she received a letter
from Miss Irene Robson, head
nurse at the S. D. A. orphanage
in Seoul, Korea.
Miss Robson spent part of her
year's furlough with her sister,
Dr. Robson of Grants Pass,, re
turning to Seoul in July, 1954.
She reports that she was wel
comed by 300 youngsters who
looked in execellent health, well
clothed and fed. For this she ex-

New School
According to Miss Robson,
these children are being taught
in a new school completed dur
ing her absence. Besides the fun
damentals, the children are
gaining a practical experience in
gardening and raising chickens.
These, projects help supply food
for the institution's children.
The boys are being taught to
use carpenter's tools . and the
girls help out in the laundry, she
adds.
She reports that ;the girls are
learning to sew on, machines
sent from the U. S.

Bible Reading
Program Success
. Results of the worldwide Bible
reading project, sponsored local
ly by the Medford Council of
Church Women and the Medford
Ministerial association, were re
ported today by the Rev. Thomas
McCamant, chairman of the
Bible committee.
He said that more than 80 per
cent of the members of the 29
participating church congrega
tions here took part in the inter-
church Bible readmg project,
which began at Thanksgiving
and will close at Christmas. -
"A survey of the pastors of
the churches showed an exceed
ingly, wide participation," he
said. "In daily reading and study
of the Bible; there has come to
many hundreds of families and
individuals a deeper knowledge
and appreciation of . the scrip
tures."
Mr. McCamant paid high trib
ute to the - cooperation of the
church women and the cooperat
ing churches of Medford and
the vicinity, who, participated
with the planning committee.
'Christmas Visitors1 Theme
Of Service at Assembly
Christmas Visitors' " day will
be held Sunday at the Medford
Assembly of God,. 1108 West
Main st., according to the pastor,
the Rev. F. Wildon Colbaugh.
Recognition will be given to
visitors in all the services and
a gift from the holy land will
be given to each.

Tis Sunday will conclude the
"class ' enlargement; campaign"
which has been conducted dur

Guest Speaker

The Rev. R. J.' Cochran will
be guest speaker at the First
Baptist church Sunday, Dec. 26,
in the absence of . Dr. F. Carl
Truex, interim pastor. The Rev.
Mr. Cochran, on furlough from
missionary work in Iraq, will
speak at the 11 a.m. service on
the subject,-MWhy Did He
Come?"
Baptist Leagues meeting at
6:30 p.m. will, also hear the re
turned missionary. He will show
slides of Iraq and display curios
from the country. The speaker
is versed in the customs of the
land where Christ was born, and
will speak of the Christmas story
in that light.
At the evening service at 7:30,
the combined choirs of the
church will present an evening
of Christmas music. The pro
gram will open with several
numbers by the youth choir,
directed by Mrs. Ted Graham.
J. Robert Cochran will lead the
adult choir in their music ; and
also direct several numbers by
the combined groups. Mrs. Ted
Graham is organist and Miss
Sonja Peterson, pianist. The Rev.
R. J. Cochran will give a short
message. .

the prelude the altar candles
will be lighted by the acolytes,

During the service most of the
favorite Christmas carols will be
sung by the congregation. .
Choir Will Sing
The choir, under the direction
of Oscar Bjorlie, will present
much of the Christmas story
through selected anthems, in
cluding "How Far is it to Beth
lehem?" "Lowly in a Manger,"
and "This Day We Sing of Our
Savior's Birth." Other numbers
will be "Birthday of a King,"
"Vigil," and "Good News From
Heaven."
, The Rev. H. G. Hillerman,
pastor, will bring the Christmas
message.
Following the Benediction the
congregation will sing "Silent
Night, Holy Night" as a carol.
